Planned obsolescence?

Amazon Customer, Amazon
5 April 2015
  • Summary: Have owned this printer for a couple of years. It printed well. Loved the wireless. Got an error u052, print head not recognized. Canon's fix is to replace head. That fix works, sometimes. At a cost of nearly as much as the printer.

Save yourself a possible hassle and switch brands

M. W. Lamar, Amazon
9 January 2015
  • Summary: I owned this for a year I believe, and it died on me for whatever reason. It was initially functional and it worked great for what I needed it for, but if you ever get a B200 (maybe B2000 error) you will have to send it in because it is a 'general error'.

A disappointing product, to say the least

K-Dog "K", Amazon
8 January 2015
  • Summary: This printer didn't last but about eight months before I got a critical error. Customer service said that error message could indicate one of several things had gone wrong. The only way to know exactly what would be to ship it to the techs and let them take it apart, piece by piece, until they found...

so it isn't like I used it a lot

Carter, Amazon
26 July 2014
  • Summary: What a piece of junk. It didn't even last one year. I never did get around to printing any photos, so it isn't like I used it a lot. Once a Canon product is off warranty, they want to charge you for tech support, and there the only repair station in Denver is about 20 miles away.

Waste of Money

PKR, Amazon
8 June 2014
  • Summary: It started out so well - great prints, great speed - multiple cartridges to minimize waste. But after one year - it's over. I got the dreaded codes of death (B200 and then U052). I could get one code to clear. I tried all the internet solutions without success. So into the trash heap it goes.

Works until warranty expires then dies immediately

michelle tran, Amazon
31 May 2014
  • Summary: Printer is awesome, easy to use, feature rich, clean prints and deep pictures. Oh wait warranty is over? B200 error time! Needs new print head which is the cost of a new printer. I am a casual printer user, and we were only on our second set of ink.

Died after 1 1/2 years

MCRC, Amazon
18 May 2014
  • Summary: I had been very pleased with this printer, until one day for no reason at all, I got an 'Error B200' message on the LCD screen while trying to print. Apparently this is a serious error, as it renders the printer completely unusable.

Nasty Surprise in store-DO NOT BUY

David H., Newegg
30 January 2014
  • Pros: It prints great, and the functions work great..easy to set up... but it has one major drawback
  • Cons: The unit functions fine until you run out of ink or the print head goes out -the ink containers are very small and don't last long. That would have been ok but... they designed the machine so it shuts down every function on the 'all-in-one' can use the scanner at all unless your print head and in...

Canon Failed Here

Andrew Sadler, Amazon
25 January 2014
  • Summary: My Pixma, just over a year old, started with the infamous B200 error. I contacted Canon, joined 2 separate webforums/pages to get service or a solution and was ignored. I would expect Canon to identify that they have a MAJOR error with this unit.

Don't Buy this Printer! It's not going to last past the warranty!

Juan, Amazon
15 November 2013
  • Summary: Don't BUY this printer! Don't buy any Canon printer unless you want to replace it as soon as the warranty expires! This was my second printer from Canon. The first one was a high end Photo printer a Pixma.
