Conclusion: This printer has been programed in a way that as soon as you run out of any ink color, you cannot access the scanning option. Also you cannot buy only the black ink to print in black and white, you will have to replace all the colors witch costs almost half of what you will pay for the printer. The first ink cartridges that came with the printer ran out way too fast.
Conclusion: I bought this Canon MG5320 in July, 2012 and I have not had any problems with it, except it is an ink hog. I love the rear tray the most. I use it to print my sheet of file folder labels, address labels, shipping labels, greeting card stock and small 4x6 or 5x7 photos. The other printers do not have this feature and I had no problems until today.
Conclusion: I was SOOOO pleased at first. It did photos in B plus or better quality - not bad for a home printer. It did printable CD's very nicely. And it broke down after a few months. This seems to be a common problem. The ink carriage just WON'T MOVE, and no amount of turning off power supply, etc., turning upside down, gentle shaking, looking for scraps of paper inside (there aren't any) can undo the jammed mechanism. Apparently this happens often with this printer. Often.
Cons: High Ink Consumption, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
Conclusion: This is absolutely the worst all-in-one I have ever owned and I would highly suggest others do not purchase. Unit does not work properly when wireless. The unit will not recognize the wireless connection and then I have to fight with it for hours to get it to work again. When I give up on wireless and plug in the network cable it basically has the same issue. I get error messages stating the usb cable is not plugged in etc... I can go on for hours.
Conclusion: When it was working it was OK for the price. But just as I replaced a cartridge it died. No amount of "turn the printer off, unplug it from the power source, reconnect the plug and turn the printer back on" was helpful. The suggestion to "see the service manual" led me to the advice to "contact the service center". Nope. Gotta get a new printer. Lasted just about one year.
Conclusion: I've had this printer close to 1 year and it is wonderful. AirPrint is reliable and the main reason I purchased a new printer. It is a bit slow starting up, but we just leave it on all the time since we never know when we are going to send and AirPrint. Quality is wonderful, no little buttons to clean dust out of or get dirty. Love the dual paper tray/feed! I would buy this same printer again.
Conclusion: Bought this for my third home desktop computer. Several years ago I got a Canon LIDE scanner-only machine, which I love and am still using. I will be sad when it finally wears out. I wanted to get another one just like it, but was disappointed to find that no one would sell me a scanner without a paper-burning, ink-guzzling printer.
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Flimsy Construction, long warmup cycles, no black & white color mode for scanning
