Wifi/network printing very unreliable; works only in the US/Canada!
8 December 2014
Summary: I have not used this printer a lot because it has serious WiFi connectivity problems. First I thought it just my wireless settings. However, I've now changed all my network gear and it still is practically unusable. USB works OK, WiFi doesn't. Another serious problem in my case is Canon's regional lock in. I took the printer to Europe for my extended trip. However, local European ink cartridges wont work in this device.
Summary: Worked pretty well for a year, then just died with error code 5400. That means you either take it in for out of warrenty servicing or....just get a new one. This has been a consistant problem with Canon products that I have owned, they work well for a year or so, then just stop. It's like they have built in obsolescence. It has happened with three Canon products and this is the last.
Summary: The mg4220 was a pretty easy set up, including wireless. It printed adequately like any other printer for 14 months. Then one piece of paper jammed in it and it reported support code 5400. Removing the piece of paper did nothing to help. Canon phone support was free, but we're two months out of warranty and have to take the printer in to be serviced. Serviced after a single paper jam!
Summary: Exceptional printer! Arrived in excellent condition and does exactly as described. No problems with it so far. Print quality is good and its very easy to setup. Connecting to Wifi/ Home network is a breeze and it works perfectly with windows 8.
Summary: I chose this printer because it did 2 sided printing. It is easy to use, and the printing and copying capabilities are wonderful. I gave it 4 stars because it does use allot of ink but I really enjoy this printer.
