Conclusion: We use this printer all the time in the office. The setup was easy enough and it has all of the basic requirements. For the last 2 years this copier has worked just well enough to stay out of the scrap heap. The printer is needy, in that for every action that could normally be conducted just from the computer, it requires you to confirm settings on the unit itself.
Summary: Wireless is finicky, oftentimes doesn't work from both windows and mac desktops and laptops and has been a great source of frustration for anyone in our household trying to send stuff to the printer. The trick appears to be to turn the printer on and off a few times and retry the print job and at some point in time, it will actually start printing.
Summary: Have to admit,,,,wasn't easy to install....I got lucky and called my IT group from my company and he hooked up thru the VPN and took control of my computer and he did it all in 10 minutes....works great now...laughing....I've always been able to install HP Products no problem...this is a beast to install but once your done, it's worth it...
Conclusion: Great features exactly what I wanted but using features can be cumbersome, too many choices per button on control panel, can be confusing. Tech set up well worth the money. Set up is not designed for novice, can be confusing for even a seasoned user. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Worst part is setup for the multi-use Tray, and on demand duplex copying. Duplex printing can be controlled in print settings.
Pros: everything you need in one machine, optional high capacity toner cartrage available
Cons: some funtions are cumbersom to use, setup can be confusing, 250 sheet paper tray
Summary: First printer I got malfunctioned about 4 months into it, but I have to say that the Canon Tech Help folks were gems and after couple tries of fixing it via phone directives, they shipped me out a new printer and had easy to follow shipping instructions for my sending them back the dead one--all at no charge to me. The second printer has been working like a charm--although I do not use the wireless function so I can't attest to how good (or not so good) that works.
Conclusion: i have used two Canon multi function devices over many years. The latest, this model, repeat previous experiences by adding a complex and un-intuitive set of software and drivers to support completely mundane and expected tasks like scanning, printing and faxing. In both LAN and USB setups the printer setup is lengthy, burdensome and problematic.
Summary: My dad runs with the local ambulance service and they needed a new copier, so the researching and hunting for one began. We needed a printer that could print a lot because we do an annual newsletter that results in 6,400 copies in a few days. I chose Canon because I had previous good experience with their products. We have had this printer since May and it has made 12,000 copies since May. It is still working great.
Conclusion: The functionality and quality of the printer is excellent 4-5 stars for sure. The setup process, having to download multiple software programs to use, and heavy drivers, etc., makes this a complicated setup. This is not an plug and play system. But if you can follow instructions, and have some tech intuition, then you will enjoy the product.
Pros: reliable, durable, fast print speed, easy to use
