not the best

RT, Staples
1 August 2014
  • Excerpt: I had recently purchased this printer. It prints fine (doesn't have an ability to change setting to save on toner). Scanner is bad, written documents do not come out well scanned (had it on highest dpi 300). I scan a lot, and for me it is not good.

Support Documentation impossible to find / Manual?

VRAY, Canon
10 February 2014
  • Conclusion: Trying to check on how to do some things, like reprint last fax. Under support/drivers can't find any manual or help options? giving up, wasting too much time trying to find help through their website. Overall happy with printer; figured out some of the tricky scan functions, with XP. Cartridges are super expensive; will look for a good refiill alternative. I have been recommended some good comapnies.
  • Pros: great quality, lots of functions, great price for features
  • Cons: expesive cartridges, support

Great machine except for scanning

Adorama
30 September 2013
  • Excerpt: The hardware side of this device is exceptional. It prints quickly, goes to sleep quickly, and is completely silent when asleep. The print is crisp and clear, the scans excellent. The paper feeder is smooth and hasn't jammed yet. Printing is flawless with both, Windows and Mac PCs (you have to download the Mac software from the Canon website, no biggie). The painful part, and the reason why I gave it 3 stars, is that the firmware is cumbersome for scanning.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy setup, Easy to use, Fast print speed, High quality output, Reliable, Small Footprint
  • Cons: bad user interface, Difficult to use, firmware is cumbersome for scanning, scanning is terrible, scans don't come out straight

Good for the price

Office Guy, Staples

  • Excerpt: Nice printer, maybe because it came with a starter cartridge I think it uses too much ink but time will tell.
  • Pros: Fast, Quiet
  • Cons: Flimsy, Uses Too Much Ink

Forget the sheet feeder, it skews terribly.

Zed_the_Shredder, Amazon
9 August 2014
  • Summary: It's a fine printer but as soon as you load multiple pages into the sheet feeder they will be skewed. I've tried various weights of paper to no avail and the only solution is to scale the original image down to 95%. But the printed (or scanned file) is still skewed and not professional if it has to be presented. It looks terrible. My return period is expired and there's no way I'm paying to ship this printer anywhere to be examined.
