Summary: Bought this as an inexpensive option for kids school homework printing. Now using it in the home office. Have had this printer for a while now. Used it as a scanner, printer, and fax machine and all work well. Its been reliable and works great as a general laser printer.
Summary: I am continually amazed at the great improvements can and makes in multifunction devices. In addition to this machine, I recently bought an MF4890dw, the successor to this unit. Both of the units have been miraculous.
Summary: Much more aesthetically pleasing than the equivalent HP product. Solidly made and compact. The big weakness is the wireless scanning. It will scan a single sheet perfectly happily, but cannot cope with five or ten sheets.
Summary: I don't know how I got along with just a plain Laserjet before getting this. It is a full-featured printer and copier, and a middling-but-adequate scanner. I haven't tried using the fax yet, as I mostly use eFax.
Summary: This printer works good and was a replacement for a similar printer whose network card died. It was a bit challenging to put on my network. The Netgear router and my security configuration could be contributing, so I cannot put all the blame Canon.
Summary: As a graduate student, I needed a wireless laser printer, that would save me money compared to printing at the library. Setup with Mac was relatively painless - it took me an hour or so. The only thing to note is to be careful with removing all the colored sealing tape on the various parts.
Summary: I needed a wireless laser printer, scanner, fax and love my new Canon. We set it up on both a PC and a Mac without any major hitches (you have to manually download the drivers for the Mac). It performs beautifully and I especially love the 2-sided printing. Yea for saving paper!
