Conclusion: This was our fourth Canon all-in-one printer. All past experiences were extremely positive which is the reason for our brand loyalty. This printer is difficult to use. I needed tech support to set up the wifi connection. I still can't figure out how to scan. Furthermore, it has cheap construction - it is noisy, slow and sounds like it will fall apart. It is the most complicated and difficult to use printer I have ever encountered!
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Difficult Setup, Flimsy Construction
Summary: This was advertised as easy to install, not true and wifi capable, also most not true...I wanted to be able to print and scan over wifi, this machine purported to be able to do this, but it would not. After many hours on the phone with customer service at Canon, I was told that the machine needs to be on a network with an exchange email account. Nowhere in the literature is this stated...
Summary: Bought this printer for the features. The was DOA (dead on arrival) Canon sent another, refurbished printer - that didn't work either. Now waiting for the fifth printer to arrive to see if the fault is rectified. Bottom line - I bought a brand-new printer and now have a non-working refurbished printer, with no offer of refund or compensation. This was my first ever Canon product and certainly my last.
Summary: When it's working it does a good job. Time to first print is a little slow, it's pretty noisy when it first starts up, but then settles down and is reasonably quiet when actually printing. Print quality is fine, we use it for color copies and have no complaints at all. The problem with our Canon MF8380cdw is that it drops into energy saver mode after a max (selected in menu) of 60 minutes.
Summary: Every attempt (and there were many) to print would yield two misprinted pages. This happened even when making a simple one-sided copy. Navigation from the front panel of this printer was tedious. I wasted 5 hours trying to get this printer to work properly. I have a Mac with OSX 10.6.8. Amazon was fantastic regarding the return and credit.
Summary: Purchased 2 of these printers. Have never been able to get either one of them to work right. One of the printers seals the envelopes shut when we run envelopes through and when we have tried to print color media that needs to be good quality, it fades as it prints, leaves marks on the pages, prints with a varitey of issues. I tried purchasing very high dollar printer cartrides thinking it was that, and had no success.
Summary: This laser printer had every feature I desired in a great price. The color printing is VERY NICE. But it does not communicate and sync well with Apple computers. In the end the printer is being returned for lack of user friendliness.
