Summary: I bought this to replace a Brother MFC-7440n, because I wanted to print color occasionally. After all the scanning and printing hassles, I re-installed the Brother as my primary MFC. The Canon will be relegated to the other room as a specialty, color printer.
Pros: Fast scans, excellent color print quality, low price.
Cons: Won't automatically remote scan. When set up to "remote scan", you can't print. That's another trip to the machine.

Summary: I have finally given up with this. It's getting recycled after only about 4 years of very light use as a home machine (not a home office). Too many reliability problems. Also, the toner didn't seem to last long. I am computer savvy and have owned printers of many types for about 30 years.
Summary: This printer prints very slow. It also goes to sleep mode a lot so you have to press the sleep button every time you want to print something. I have wireless printing set up but due to the auto-sleep feature I had to restart the printer every time I need to do a wireless printing.
Summary: This printer looks impressive. Fit and finish is exactly what I expect from Canon. The list of features is impressive as well. I had high hopes of adding color to my home office that would cost less than my inkjet. Sadly that isn't the case.
