Summary: After years of messing with inkjets and dot matrix printers and the ridiculous ink prices. Clogged print heads that use more ink to clean them. I finally got smart and went laser and haven't turned back! I am still on the starter toner they send with the printer and I have had this for a few years now. There is a firmware update for this on the Canon website which is tricky Waiting to put in the regular toner cartridges I ordered along with it is my only concern.
Summary: For the money, you can't beat it. I bought this printer to replace my ink-jet that kept on needing new cartridges because they would dry up between uses. The print coverage, even on the "trial cartridges" is good, and 6 months later I am still using them (I print very little, about 10-20 pages a month). The print quality is excellent as well.
Summary: One of the plastic clip broke inside the printer that secure one the the laser toner, making the device usable. The printer also never was able to reproduce color accurately, so color printing was not a huge loss. Otherwise a great all in one.
Summary: Put the machine in a separate room with the door open, the signal will not travel thru a wall. If there are multiple computers with the printer in the same room, signals don't connect. Even using a booster, things get complicated during configuration. The scan feature is configured manually, by choosing scan and then a remote setting and ok, not using the computer. When I am finished the copy button is pushed and we return to printing.
Summary: I must be one of the lucky ones with this printer because I have had this printer for 2 months, brought this in June... Actually I got this at Newegg for a Steal back then, $179 so that was really awesome ready. This printer prints professionally. It actually has great color. I am a shop owner so its important that my labels for my items print out professionally. I do not have a problem with any of the printing. Even on black and white it looks nice.
Summary: BEWARE of Canon products like this one that say they are "Mac-compatible." Canon DOES NOT OFFER a PDF manual or an e-manual for this product. For certain operations, such as calibration after replacing toner cartridges, the printed manual says to follow the instructions in the included e-manual. If you are trying to use this product with a Mac, you are out of luck. I contacted Canon about this and was offered nothing in the way of a resolution.
Summary: Have two of these in the family and they work very well, replacing toner is really easy and while there is a bit of a delay for the printer to wake up from sleep mode to print it not long enough to be annoying. Copy quality is good, I have not used the scanning or fax capabilities of this device yet but overall I am very happy with this printer, even got one for a family member as their color printer died and needed a shared network printer, this fit the bill very well.
