Summary: Almost didn't get it because of some past reports about incompatibility with Mac OS. I use it with the latest drivers downloaded from Canon and have no problem printing or scanning (Mac OS 10.8/10.9 and Canon driver version 10.0). The duplex feature for both is great! Also, it handles three-hole punched paper without a problem. Toner is a bit expensive, but otherwise a great machine.
Summary: Duplex scanning and printing at this price point is unheard of among laser printers. The family suddenly has something to scan almost every night. It's so convenient, since they can each scan from/to their own computers on the home network. Here are the only things that kept it from being 5 stars: 1) I have to turn it off when no one is using it, otherwise it makes a small beep every 5 to 10 minutes. It's as if it goes in and out of sleep mode randomly.
Great Quality Built Product (Especially for the Price) / Software is Definitely Lacking and Cheap

Summary: This review comes from a IT professional with experience in mostly networked commercial office copiers/printers, such as Minolta and Xerox and who is replacing a home Inkjet style printer. This is quite a nice quality unit, especially considering the price. It does have duplex(double-sided) capability in all modes. The main paper feeder tray is enclosed, so you don't need to worry about dust building up on the paper and getting inside the unit.
Summary: This is, so far an excellent duplex monochrome printer. It works well in our office environment with our PC's, macs and iPads, and iPhones. A bit complicated on the controls but otherwise is getting the job done and no costly ink cartridges to worry about
Summary: As a Real Estate Agent, I needed a Printer that would do the job without robbing my pocketbook. This Printer has performed well and I did the set-up myself. Since i haven't tackled the "wireless" functions, I cannot comment on that process. That will be a challenge, according to what I've heard about all Wireless Printers.
Summary: I was able to set up and print with my system Windows 8, without Canon assistance. Then a week later, I tried to print, and nothing. Windows 8 is generally a disappointment - a 1 star product. I was pleasantly surprised by the Canon support - I talked with a guy from Chesapeake, VA for about an hour and didn't quite succeed. Uninstalled driver, computer reset, re-install and a few other things. I'm sure I'll get it back up...but it will take some time.
Summary: it's very complicated, and non-intuitive. Granted, I don't use all features every week, but when I want to fax or copy I have to get out the manual and then even that requires me to go to various pages before I know what to push when! I have to say the quality of all operations is excellent once I get the machine to operate.
Summary: This printer works well, for the money. The wireless was a little tricky to set up with windows 8, It would not download correct drivers from web sight so I had to use cd that came with it. Prints fast and easy.
Summary: We are replacing a Brother 9840CDW with this cheaper alternative 'cause that beautiful Brother machine just preferred to whine about low toner (and various other problems) more than it wanted to be a reliable print workhorse, which is why we bought it. This Canon isn't on par with the build construction of the 9840, but then it costs less than the Brother's replacement cartridge set.
