Summary: While the Brother MFC-2490 is a handy all-in-one for a small (or even not-so-small) office, not being able to duplex print is a real drawback. Tech trendsetters may be put off because it doesn't support the newest wireless version, and while most of us should be just fine with the supported versions (b/g), printing takes a bit longer when done wirelessly. And bring your own USB cable, since one doesn't come with the printer.
Pros: Wireless built in, Excellent print quality, Easy to set up
Excerpt: Brother's colour inkjet multifunction printer (MFP), the Brother MFC-6490CW , adds wide-format printing capability to an already long list of functions. Unfortunately, extremely slow performance is the tradeoff.
Summary: We have to commend Brother for breaking new ground with the world's first A3 inkjet multifunction. It's not at all perfect but, for those in the market for a large format printer, it may just meet your requirements.
Pros: Only multifunction that will print A3, Relatively affordable for its feature set, Acceptable black and white printing
Cons: Poor colour prints on plain A4 paper, Incredibly slow A3 prints, Huge size
Summary: Say the word ‘A3’ and most immediately think too big or too heavy or probably both. Well it will not fit where I review A4 units – no surprise there – but it sits in the doorway to my office quite happily and it just needs an extension on the USB lead, I am no superman but I unpacked and moved it into place on my own.
