Summary: I wanted to love this printer. I procrastinated buying a new printer for months, and did a lot of research before getting this for my small business. I was attracted by great reviews and separate color ink for reduced ink costs. So far: Pros: Easy set took about 45 mins for 2 computers.
Excerpt: I bought this Brother all-in-one as a replacement for an earlier model, MFC-J220, which served me well for nearly 2 years, but then suddenly started jamming beyond my ability to remove the jammed paper completely. This model is just fair.
Excerpt: Works fine once I got it set up but it took forever to set up. I got everything hooked up and ready to work but could not configure the network settings. Spent a couple of hours and then called customer support and it took her 2 hours on the phone to help me set it up.
Excerpt: This is my first time purchasing a Brother printer. This printer does not seem as easy to get up and running as the HP's I have purchased in the past. It did not take over as the default printer in all applications which caused me some difficulty in finding out what was wrong with the printing...
Excerpt: This printer is great, especially using the two-sided print. You do not have to do much work, it does it completely on its own. I have this printer wired to my old printer and I am also able to use the wireless to print from my Apple Pro Mac.
Excerpt: The print quality is satisfactory although colors are are not very vivid. Wifi setup is slow requiring a scan for available networks each time. Furthermore, the wifi did not connect even when signal strength is high. If power is lost wifi does not reliably reconnect.
Excerpt: To be fair, I bought this printer for an office where I primarily print to a large copier. My only use for this is for envelopes and labels. It prints labels fine, but it is terrible on envelopes. I must load just a few a time and it smears ink all over them.
