Summary: after six months printing started to gradually fade and within a year printed about half of what was needed. Followed instructions in owner's manual to clean and adjust printing, didn't improve printing.
Installation problems worsened by *terrible* customer service

Summary: The short: I would not buy this printer again - or any other Brother product, for that matter - simply on principle. It may be a fine printer, but I wouldn't know because I'm 3 hours and two calls to customer support (paraphrased: "the problem is your computer, not our printer") into the...
Summary: Paperwork says its Win 8 compatible, but the brother software does not work, I uninstalled and installed several times, from the supplied disk, and right off the Brother website. The machine will print OK from my computer, but the scan feature took me hours to get it to work.
Pros: Specs look good on paper.
Cons: Noisy, makes a lot of noise when printing. Brother software does not work, with Windows 8. Brother online help support, gives wrong information.
Summary: We broke one of the external hinges on day one. Not sure how, or what the hinge is for, but it makes it seem even flimsier. The hinge has something to do with the scanner. One potential positive with this printer is that it works out of the box with bundled windows drivers.
Cons: As other reviews point out, this printer constantly jams. I just want to add that, sometimes when it jams, the print head doesn't park, so the head is left exposed to the air. We bought just one black print cartridge for this thing (so its total page count is really low -- I think it's under 3 mo...
Summary: The printer is designed to double to quadruple your printing costs and conveniently make the manufacturers richer. Here is why: 1. You cannot use the machine unless you have all 4 ink cartridges inserted (black, yellow, magenta, cyan).
Owned this printer for a year... Not a smart purchase!

Summary: Ive owned this Brother MFCJ825DW for a little over a year and I have to say it is the worst printer I have ever owned. Everytime I use it, I want to act out a scene from "Office Space". Sometimes it falls off my wireless network for no reason at all.
Summary: I am returning this to Amazon tomorrow. Spent 4-5 hours over 2 days with Brother support trying to install, actually on 2 HP PCs but it would not load on either. Brother customer service blamed the Windows 7 systems and suggested to call HP which I did and their reps blamed Brother.
Summary: After researching for a couple of months I decided to purchase this considering the reviews were good and the reasonable cost for what I was looking for. When I received the printer I wasn't ecstatic about the print quality on this, I have had Dell printers (that sucked) that printer so much better.
