Summary: This is the second large format MFC unit I've purchased from Brother. I owned and used the predecessor J6910 DW for two years and was very pleased with 1) its relatively low cost to purchase, 2) its ability to handle large format paper--even borderless tabloid--in printing and scanning mode, 3) its low cost of replacement ink, 4) its suite of software tools--particularly the Control Center 4 scan utility.
Summary: A very good printer once you get it installed. I've had 5 Brother printers (MFCs) and all are problematic. They generally need to be re-installed 2-3 times each year due to software and/or "reported" compatibility issues. They tend to disappear from the Device Manager on regular intervals and then require re-installation to enable their usage.
Excerpt: To get the printer scan I am required to reinstall the driver on average once every 3-4 days. Then it works for 3-4 days before it hangs up again AND THIS IS WITH A USB CONNECTION!!!!!!!! It was worse with a network connection (I tried both wired and wireless) When it finally scans the paper jams. I purchased this printer solely because it had the 11 x 17 capability.
Excerpt: The printer was very easy to set up. It connected with my computer and home network much easier than others I have used. It works well and prints fast. It is a little nosier than my last Brother printer.
Excerpt: The Brother 6920 is an incredible all in one. Extremely fast scanning up to 11x17, good color, in auto mode printing, copying, scanning, enlarging, etc.. all work easily and produce great output also up to 11x17. Paper drawers if both set to letter hold a full ream (split between the two trays) which means not runnibg out all the time. Ink use seems minimal and is much cheaper than most other brands. We now have two Brother printers in our house.
Excerpt: Purchased for the ability to print and copy/scan 11 x 17 inch paper (Ledger size) such as electrical schematics and technical drawings, however there are some limitations which are not made clear until you try to use the machine. The major limitation is that you can only print on plain paper (not photo paper) if you want to print 11 x 17 from the bottom tray.
Excerpt: Always used Brother. Got 10-years and massive quantity of printing out of it. Still mourning the loss, but considered another brand, and I just felt like sticking to what I know. Have 2-other Brothers before this one, and I am happy to say in 22-years of business, and all the printing I do, I am super satisfied.
Pros: Doesn't Jam, Good Value, Easy to Use, Fast, Quality, Easy to Set Up, Performance, size/space
