"Built for long/heavy use, with excellent reproduction."

Pros: Ledger size, ADF duplex most media. ADF feeds well. Decent print quality for everyday work. Excellent photo copies. Individual ink cartridges v. color all-in-one cartridge keeps costs down. Excellent scan quality whether manual flat or ADF.
Cons: Included S/W is junk. Will not allow duplex if paper is set to "inkjet paper", however, if the setting is changed, inkjet paper will work. Photo paper selection is Brother or other, does not break out glossy, semi-gloss, matte, etc.
Good for design/architecture office drawings and diagrams

Summary: We purchased this unit to print drawings and diagrams at ledger size. Mostly B&W but sometimes with color accents. The color is really underwhelming, and I cant recommend ever using this for image prints. For line art and diagrams it's fine, and is quite cost effective for the base unit and ink. Ink performance has been good.
Summary: I'm a former electronics R&D technician, Electronics Research & Development Technician with an ASEET ( Associate in Science in Electronics Engineering Technology ). I've used this printer for a couple of months now, and unlike the HP Officejet 8500A that it replaced, which worked for 8 months then jammed and died, this one seems sturdy enough and prints nicely. I don't use the fax function, only the printer, scanner and copier.
Summary: Seems to be working fine so far. Have had it a week. Paper output won't fall on floor if the paper guide holder is pulled out from tray 1 as directed. Paper trays seem to be fine, not flimsy, but made out of a more flexible plastic and could possibly bread easier...but that's what the warranty is for. Brother offers a 3 yr warranty on the product already...not sure if the Walmart warranty is needed, but it wasn't too expensive so I got it also.
Summary: I switched to Brother from HP because of the terrible HP customer service & good reviews on the Brother. The first 1 they sent jammed repeatedly & could not work to even print a test page even with customer support. Since it was only 2 days old, customer support stated a new machine would be sent, but instead they sent a factory refurbished. It works (for the time being) but my mac will not permit the download of the "Presto!
Summary: Terrible printer, when it works. If you don't use it for a week or two, the printer heads have to be cleaned and sometimes they still don't work. The ink also doesn't last very long and if the printer says a cartirdige is low/empty, you can't print anything (not even using only black) until you replace the cartirdge it says is low/empty. We've had ten HP printers & one Epson, over the years, and never had any major problems. We needed a 13x17 printer & tried this.
Summary: It is fast and clear. It scans quickly and has great resolution. The ability to scan and print up to 11X17 paper is a nice feature. Two paper trays are good too but I really miss a bypass tray. I FOUND THE BYPASS TRAY. IT'S ON THE BACK OF THE MACHINE. IT WILL ONLY TAKE ONE SHEET AT A TIME, STATIONARY IS A GOOD USE.
Summary: As a four-colour printer (three+black), I wasn't expecting good photo printing; as long as you use decent paper, you'll get better than you might expect from some of the reviews, but you'll run into the limitations of three-colour soon enough. If you want true photo-printing, get a printer that uses more than three colours plus black. But the _graphics_ printing - graphic design-ish posters, things like that, I design them for concerts - is unexpectedly excellent.
Summary: I researched the Brother MFC-J6710 DW, that was priced at $249.00 at Office Depot. However, Wamart.com was selling the Newer model MFC-J6910 DW that had additional feature for $288.00, so I decided to purchase this one instead. I am very happy with this printer. It does an excellent job for what I require in the print quality. Wireless printing, Large format printing and scanning are great features for this printer. The 3 years warranty by the Brother is great.
