Summary: There has been many nuanced reviews posted here. I'm just going to post a brief one based on my experience. On the pro side, and this is unusual for inkjet printers in general, Brother has been relaxed about third party inks. As a result, there are amazing ink deals for this printer. I mean like a DOZEN cartridges for $15 or so. This is unheard of in the inkjet arena where cartridges can cost upwards of $30.
Ink refill situation annoying-planned obsolescence gets so old!!!!

Summary: I got this printer at the end of April 2011. So far I have liked how the features worked. I've printed a lot of pages with the ink that came with it. But now the printer won't print because it says I need to refill the ink cartridge. The annoying thing is that it was still printing fine. You can't even tell the cartridge is getting low by looking at the last pages that were printed.
Summary: The first printer sent to us was easy to set up and all 4-in-one features were operable - for 12 hours. At that point it all came to a halt. I called Customer Support, and had no trouble getting to a tech who instructed me to try several things to get the machine to print. Nothing worked, and the printer remained dead in the water. The tech then explained the process for getting a replacement printer (do nothing until the second printer arrived.
Summary: I bought this machine few days ago. Today is the first time I used it extensively (e.g. printing documents, photos, scanning, copying, faxing, etc.) PROS: Prints pretty good on regular documents and photos. Sends faxes and copies documents fairly well. Size fits my small apartment and computer desk. The wireless capability is pretty helpful; I can print documents from my laptop and desktop remotely pretty well.
