Summary: After over a year it is still working with no issues, jams, etc.
Pros: Low cost to operate using separate ink cartridges. High Print quality for an ink jet. compared it to my laser and no noticeable differences. Handle everything from a post cad or envelope to an 11X17 sheet.
Summary: For one thing, Brothers is not like the rest of the printer companies who make their monies selling you ink once you were fooled to buy their printer at an amazingly low price. Brother Printers are well priced if not better priced per feature, and decent with everything you need, including affordable cartridges which do not expire when HP or Epson decide that they should expire, even though there is ink left in the cartridge.
Summary: Epson printer just up and died on me and I had some NewEgg gift cards so I picked up this little honey. Set up was easy and straight forward, no issues getting it working wirelessly. LCD display is so intuitive to use, makes for job setup and running without the computer just as easy.
Pros: Front loading and discharge makes placing it against wall or in cabinet easy to use. Document feeder is excellent, smooth loading and makes for quick batch work, Scanner works fantastic, no shadowing or over exposure. Compact size is nice for small installation location. Fast printing both color and b&w.
Cons: Tends to go through ink pretty quickly, depending on tasks, can be loud when first starting printing or copying, also high quality printing can generate loud whine from printhead dispensing ink.
Summary: I like the speed at which this prints and the quality is good at the fastest rate. Even better at the normal rate. The only thing in which I am disappointed is that it does not seem to accept envelopes for printing. The opening is too big even when the guides are put to the most narrow point.
Excerpt: Overall this unit is larger than I thought it would be. I should've looked at the size before ordering. Throw the book away if trying to set it up on a wireless network. I have windows 8. Had to connect to Brother to download drivers as they are not on the CD. Other than the longer than expected time to set up on the wireless network, this unit works excellent.
Summary: I originally bought the Brother MFC-J5910W because I was looking for a printer that could SCAN 11x17 sheets as well as print them, for comic book art,, but it seems these combo products rarely articulate the size of the scanner. However, the printer itself is of a really good quality so far, and it's more of a blessing in disguise that the scanner is considerably smaller than I'd hoped, as it would take a lot more space (which is ample as it is), and I wouldn't need to...
Excerpt: I have long been a fan of Brother. I have never been disappointed in their quality, service and reliability. I still have a MFC8500 that keeps turning out quality print job, scans and copies effortlessly, and it is 13 years old. This new printer will serve a similar purpose but for my wife who is wanting to scan many pictures she has accumulated over the years. It was easy to set-up and is very intuitive to operate.
Pros: Durable construction, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use
Summary: If your looking for a quiet machine, this is not for you.Its a bit noisy on printouts but it has all the bells for the price and I was able to buy it at a terrific low price. I'm well satisfied.
