Summary: I print tons of homeschool print outs. This is wonderful, true to color, nice speed, multi page copy. Woot woot. Make my life easier with wireless printing. This is a great all around home and small office printer. The ink is better priced than my old (camara company manufactured) printer. I print twice the volume at the same price. The size is perfect, no monster sitting in the room. I give Brother a pat on the back for this one.
Summary: All functions work in both Windows XP AND Linux. Supports both Postscript and PCL. Make sure to download and install the latest software from Brother's website and to run the Firmware Update Tool to install the latest version of the firmware. As noted by others, the paper output trays are flimsy and should be handled with care, especially by young children and clumsy teenagers. Use paper designed for inkjet printers - copier/laser paper produces muted colors.
Summary: I have not had this very long but, so far, I'm impressed. Setup and software installation was simple. It prints beautifully and very fast. Although I have a dedicated scanner because all of my previous all-in-ones scanned so slowly, this is a fast and impressive scanner. I bought this unit because its footprint is only 12" deep and I only have a 13" shelf. I could not be happier and it really blows away my previous $300 HP all-in-one.
Summary: One of the features that I had been looking for was double sided scanning. I like to rip books apart and then scan them so that I can search for the information a bit better. This has double sided scanning, but it is not the best, the feeder port tends to get clogged up and take more than one sheet at a time. Also, you have to remove each item as it scans or it will create a jumbled mess.
Summary: I LOVE Brother printers. Had two at work and have one personal. I needed something to put out a really nice newsletter, wanted to do it in color. I read reviews and researched and finally made the decision. It prints two sided, which was a must, but the color quality is horrid. Colors look faded. I have used multiple types of paper and it makes no difference. It is an embarrassment for this to go out. Anyone wanting quality color, DON'T chose this printer.
Summary: This printer is really nice!! I haven't used it an enormous amount, but for what I have, it works great! It was easy to set up. We had to print a 50 page document not long ago and it was done in no time. We have made copies on it and they turned out great. We have not used the fax part of it, but don't have a landline. Would highly recommend this printer.
Summary: This Brother Multi-function machine was purchased for my me by my department's Information Technology service. While the scan and copy functions work fine, the speed at which faxes are printed while being received is horrible. I dread receiving many page faxes because it seems endless for them to print out. It reminds me of the speed of ink-jet printers I had 10 years ago.I plan on shopping around and purchasing my own to bring to my office to replace this dud.
Summary: This has proved to be a great printer. It has features that I couldn't find at a reasonable price anywhere else. I find the print quality more than satisfactory and it's rather fast, too. It's not especially quiet, but it's not noisy either. It will accept (at least some) generic ink tank replacements. It comes with Paperport SE, which does a great job of organizing your scanned documents.
