Summary: I did not do detailed diagnostics, but noticed the PaperPort software installed .Net Framework, ver 2005! My guess is it was an out of date version that corrupted the patched versions already installed. I had not cleaned up my PC in about 2 years, but is is unacceptable for an application to cause those problems. AVOID PAPERPORT!
Pros: I echo HandyAndy's comments. Separate cartridges for each color plus duplex printing will save some money (HP, are you listening?) I installed the printer using a wired network connection. The 4410 works great as a network scanner and printer. I do not find the noise objectionable.
Cons: WARNING! Initially, I performed the full software install on a Win7 desktop machine. This included Nuance Paper Port. It seriously corrupted the PC. The web browser would randomly hang, the network connection would disappear and the CPU was constantly at 90% use. Uninstalling PaperPort did not solve the problem. I wound up reinstalling the OS from scratch.
Pros: I purchased this unit for multiple reasons. 1) Reasonable priced ink supplies. 2) Ink available from competitors. 3) Unit fits available space. 4) USB, wired ethernet, and wireless connections. 5) Duplex paper handling. 6) Sheet feeder for scanning and fax. 7) Can actually print on 11 by 17 paper.
Cons: As mentioned by other owners, the printer's paper handling is noisy! I'm surprised that Brother allowed this to occur. My other Brother printers are relatively quiet.
Summary: All relatively petty complaints, but enough for me to knock off 1 egg.
Pros: So far, I'm very impressed with this printer. Setup was a breeze. I was too lazy to walk upstairs to hit the WPS button on our router so I went the manual route to setup the wireless connection and it took no time at all. I have an older Brother laser printer that was a real hassle to manually setup the wireless and I've had plenty of trouble with Lenovo printers setting up wireless.
Cons: My only complaints so far are 1) the power cord could be a little longer. 2) It could be quieter when drawing paper from the paper tray and 3) That you have to lift the scanner bed to access the phone jack, ethernet port and usb port.
