Summary: I've had it! bought all new ink cartridges 2 months ago & have probably only printed out about a dozen black&white pages, & it's telling me it can't detect my color ink & I need to replace! has happened before…..I will never buy another Brother!!!
Summary: I'm posting this review as a service to potential buyers. I did not buy this printer on Amazon, but unfortunately I own one! The cartridges are expensive, don't last and the most frustrating part is that if you are out of yellow - you cannot print in gray scale! Why on earth do I need yellow to print with black. It is a pure crap printer, utter garbage and a piece of junk and I hate it!
Summary: We have two of these awful printers. One of my employees bought the first one when she got a Brother when we wanted a HP. So now we had ink for a Brother so then we bought the MFC-J410W. Both of the Brothers are just awful. They jam paper a lot and then they tell you to open the back cover and remove paper jam when there is not any paper jam. They we have to turn it off to clear it.
Summary: Started out great. No problems connecting to encrypted wireless or using it initially. Only used Brother OEM ink (went down that road once and ruined a printer). Now, after less than 2 years of regular household level printing, it won't recognize brand new full cartridges. Save your money.
Summary: Mine is broken in just two years. I still have a bunch of inks for it at hand.Unbelievably,I have another older Brother printer MFC-3240C which still works. I don't buy MFC-J410w even I have to throw away my stock of inks. Instead, I spend about $66 to buy some other printer. The new one is much lighter than MFC-J410W. So I realize that MFC-J410W is out-of-date. My new printer is a new generation.
Summary: Can't scan, can't fax if ink is low. Why do I need ink to scan? Feels like scam. Also, keeps cleaning every time I turn on the printer which is every day or every other day and uses all the ink. I bought the new cartridge and printed only 15 pages and it's empty again. I would not buy this printer again.
Summary: After multiple hours struggling with this printer, let me summarize: 1. Yes it sets up easy enough. 2. Prints EXTREMELY SLOW. I have no idea how or in what universe a 20 or 30 ppm print speed was found for the specifications. I just tested mine - it printed a Google search page (1.5 pages) in a little over 1 minute. Even if I subtract time to communicate with the printer, it still took 45 seconds to print 1 page on NORMAL. 3.
Summary: I had a Lexmark prior to this. It was quick, quality of the print was great, dependable , easy to use, ink cheap. This is slow, print quality is poor, it has to be shut down and reset often cause it just doesn't print,it jams, or I just get sick of trying to do tasks that should be easy. I should have stuck with the Lexmark , never will buy a Brothers again!
Is there any such thing as a trouble free printer?

Summary: We've had this printer for a year or two now and it has been great up until today. It was low on yellow ink so I changed the cartridge. It would not recognize the new cartridge, purchased via Amazon suppose to be a genuine Brother cartridge, looks like one anyway. The printer will now not recognize the new nor the old ink cartridge so it is pretty much a useless hunk of plastic sitting on the desk. Very disappointing.
