Summary: EDIT: I needed to use this printer, and because one of the color ink cartridges was too low, the printer refused to perform a black and white copy or otherwise function whatsoever. I bought black ink, replaced that cartridge (noticing then that the old cartridge of black ink was full) and the printer still refused to perform a black and white copy because of the color ink level. I feel pretty clever because I figured out a rudimentary hack to override this ink check.
Summary: I didn't use the fax feature on this "All-in-one" printer, so I am going to count that out. Setup: The printer supports connectivity with upto 2 computers. Connection to my desktop computer, which is connected to the modem using a wired connection (but is also capable of wi-fi functionality) was fairly painless. I used wireless networking to achieve this.
Summary: I've used Brother printers for my daily workhorses for years - my current one is their big 6490 two tray, 11x17 model. I bought a model similar to this for my college age niece. What you should know is that all the compact Brother inkjets use the same mechanism and give about the same results; their differences are in the accessories.
Summary: It's ok but could not set up wireless. After working with Brother for an hour, they said it was my new Dell Inspiron laptop. I worked with Dell for 1.5 hours and they said it was a defective wifi card in the printer and to send it back. I did. Amazon/Brother was great and I rec'd a replacement in just a couple of days, no questions asked. I would have liked to have seen an easier time setting up but it was ok.
