Summary: I would expect that after spending about $600+ on the printer and unused toner, I would get more than a couple hundred pages out of it. Brothers customer service is completly useless, except to tell me to spend more money fixing a problem prone printer. I'll stick with lexmark or Cannon.
Pros: Fairly fast printing for the price range. Price is pretty low for a color laser printer. Easy network setup.
Cons: Toner is expended very quickly. Color is mediocre at best, but black comes through nice. Paper jams on occasion. Now the bad news. After 2 years of very infrequent use, IT BRICKED. I unpluged it to move in a new cabinet and when I pluged it back in...Nothing, completely dead. I called brother and...
Summary: Other then the fact the price dropped $70 in less then 30 days after I got the unit I am very happy with it. B/W printing is fine for most everyone. Colour is good enough for business use. Scanning to PDF works great. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-24-11 10:01 PM
Pros: Cheap if you get it on sale. Software works well. Can refill toner to save money. Quality is good for this price range of an all in one colour laser. Fairly fast printing., Never had a single jam in over three months.
Cons: Auto feeder fails if you just throw a stack of paper in it and often pulls through two sheets as one. Works fine if you first tap the stack of paper on a table so it is all lined up. Guess I can't expect it to work like the $80,000 machine at work. Really not much of an issue., Unit is fairly lar...
Summary: Have a HL-3040CN at home which shares the same guts, just no multifunction, and was very happy with it, so picked this up for the office. Color prints are great, scanner is good, fax is quick, prints are fast.
Pros: Cheap for a color multifunction with fax, toner is easily refillable and not too expensive considering, network is a huge plus, software is pretty good, print quality is great, memory is user upgradable,
Cons: its BIG and heavy, OEM toner cartridges are expensive, too little built in RAM to print pictures, RAM required to upgrade is old PC-100 144 pin SODIMM modules.
Summary: If you've ever used a Brother printer, you know they're absolutely the best. This unit is no different. I bought it on sale, and it seems to be on sale frequently at NCIX, so wait for the sale if you want to buy it.
Summary: The printer has some nice features but the quality is far from what I am used to. I have worked in the I.T. field for 16 years and have never seen anything like this. The first time I printed some color documents on it I noticed the quality was not as bold as on the HP laser printers, but it was ok.
Summary: I have grown to really hate ink jet printers. Great if you use them often but sitting idle the print heads dry out and clog. Ink is not cheap either. I have had zero problems with laser printers but longed for a color one for a decent price. This thing is awesome!
Pros: I have been on the fence to buy a network color laser printer for home use for a while. I have a B&W Brother laser networked,an HP color ink jet that is always empty or clogged and an old fax machine. My goal was to get a one machine solution to do decent printing and get rid of the 3 other machi...
Cons: Nothing comes to mind unless you have to replace all the toner cartridges at once. At around $50 a pop it would leave a mark on your wallet. The box it comes in is frigging HUGE. I think they could air drop it to your house and it would land OK. The one feature it does NOT have is two sided print...
