Summary: beautiful color laser at a great price, and from a great company. I also like the fact it installed pretty easily. the CD did not have Windows 7 64 bit drivers on it, but their was a link in the app that took me to brothers site to select and download the correct drivers. after that, it was a snap. beautiful color scans, scan to PDF, and good color pictures also!
Summary: I bought this printer in 2010 for medium duty and it has worked out fine. The comments about eating the toner cartidges quickly are very true, as the process Brother uses to determine when a toner cart is near empty is terrible. However, there is a way to manually reset all the toner cartridge levels I found on another site, and have used several times. It almost doubles your toner cart life, see below.
Summary: This is the 2nd one of these that I bought. The first one got hit by lightning. I'm pretty happy with it; I think the print quality could be better but I think they are cheaper to run than an inkjet.
Summary: I have always had great luck with Brother. I have 8 restaurants and use them in every one, including my own home. I really like this MFC-9120CN. It is fast, easy to use, prints well and of course gives you the luxury of color laser! Cheaper use in the long run as well with the toner vs. inkjet....
Great home office A-I-O for modererate volume use, few and minor drawbacks
9 April 2012
Summary: Advantages: 1. Economical 2. Changing toner cartridges is a breeze. 3. All In One capability 4. Lots of options for scanning to file. Disadvantages: 1. Refuses to print shortly after toner low warning, but long before toner is empty. Override will allow continued printing until pages fade, but the procedure for override is not in the manual. Had to find it online. 2. Manual page feeder is single sheet only. 3. Manual page feeder is tempermental.
Absolutely the worst computer peripheral I've ever owned
17 March 2012
Summary: I cannot say enough bad things about this printer. It's expensive, uses ink faster than an airplane uses fuel, takes an eternity to begin printing, smudges ink on the corners of most documents and jams literally 99% of the time. If you plan on using any paper besides the lightest smallest weight paper, this thing will print one page and jam. You will fix the jam in the paper tray, you will then have a 5% chance of it printing followed by a guaranteed jam.
Summary: Easy to set up. Works well for printing, scan and fax. The only problem is that it showed toner low way before the toner is low. I have used it for more than two months now after it showed black toner low and I am still getting good quality black and white prints.
Summary: Quality of prints is good; speed of printing is pretty good, not as fast as a much more expensive unit, but quite acceptable. Networking setup was a breeze. Haven't used the fax much, but haven't had any issues with that function.
Summary: Other then the fact the price dropped $70 in less then 30 days after I got the unit I am very happy with it. B/W printing is fine for most everyone. Colour is good enough for business use. Scanning to PDF works great.
Pros: Cheap if you get it on sale. Software works well. Can refill toner to save money. Quality is good for this price range of an all in one colour laser. Fairly fast printing., Never had a single jam in over three months.
Cons: Auto feeder fails if you just throw a stack of paper in it and often pulls through two sheets as one. Works fine if you first tap the stack of paper on a table so it is all lined up. Guess I can't expect it to work like the $80,000 machine at work. Really not much of an issue., Unit is fairly large and heavy. Also to single feed special paper means you can only really do one page at a time as the little door to hold the paper is to short so you can't just put a stack ...
