Summary: Had this printer for just under 2 years. The power supply went out and Brother they will not sell replacement parts direct to consumers. They directed me to an authorized repair shop. I spend $40 just to confirm that it is the power supply (which I already knew).
Summary: We've had this printer less than 30 days. Already a part has gone bad. "It's under warranty", we have been told it could take 2-3 weeks for us to get the part. We hear from Brother, our printer went out last Thursday, if we are lucky the new part will be ready to be installed early next week.
Summary: I bought 8 of these in the last year for 3 different business locations. They are okay for one or two individuals to share but they are definitely not a workgroup printer. With heavy use, they get too hot and stop working.
Summary: Anyone that rated this printer more than 1 star is not using it regularly. I have purchased 7 (yes 7!) of these for various small office clients over the past 18 months. Every single one of them needed the fuser replaced within 6 months. Every one!
Summary: Poor quality, after several months it started to jam and cannot print multiple pages. Not for a small business as its too poor of a quality to do any kind of printing. Now it started to print with a shadow and cleaning it doesnt work. Im disappointed that it cannot be returned as Im out over $500.
Summary: Very fast (no warm-up time required for either scanning or printing) which always aggravated me with Brother's previous MFCs. I have been using Brother's MFCs for the last 16 years because of their (relative) reliability and cost of use in my office. This, in my opinion, is the BEST one I ever had.
Summary: I am reluctant to buy new toner or a new drum only to find out that the problem is still there. I have looked at the Brother trouble shooting web site. It's not very helpful. "Replace toner or drum". Please. How about a little more technical explanation of why. Maybe some fixes.
Pros: fast warm up for a laser, great speed, loads of copy & print options. I bought this for my classroom. It seemed to be a better option than fighting for one of the two printers in the building. It networked easily. Getting 200 copies fast and close was a real advantage.
Cons: The printer worked well for a couple of months. Now it's output is fettered with narrow black lines across the page every 1/2 inch or so. I removed the toner and shook it and moved that little green tab on the back to dislodge any clumped toner. I checked the drum for residual toner. None. After ...
