Summary: Although this printer works great the reason I will never buy a Brother product again is that this all in one requires all the color cartilages to have ink or the printer will not print even in black and white. Most of the time this printer is a paperweight because one of my colors is empty and when I replace it another one mysteriously becomes empty. Sorry Brother you will not be ripping me off anymore.
Summary: The handset breaks after a short while, and there is no customer support, other than 'buy a new one at $90'. Speaker phone is sometimes very low in volume. Ink stains the print outs, ink needs to be replaced before it has completely run out, cartridges are over priced.
Summary: I have had the Brother MFC-885CW for about 4 years now. I LOVE this all in one printer as a whole. With a firmware update it works well with windows 7. This all in one has wireless and network capabilities. It is also a phone/fax/printer/scanner/copier with answering machine. It should be noted: Even though this machine recognizes the difference between a phone call and a fax.
Summary: This is the worst printer i've owned. The software suite that comes with it works extremely slow (if at all) in the "scan to computer" mode using windows XP. The printer head no longer prints in blue and is on and off with red. Black is all that's reliable. I print on a regular basis...or at least try to print. Unacceptable. On the bright side, the fax machine works well. Form-factor is nice-- It will look really cool in the dumpster..
Summary: OK, VERY SIMPLE........NO FEATURES, NO MATTER HOW NICE, MAKE THIS PRINTER A WORTHWHILE PURCHASE, SINCE IT HAS TWO OF THE MOST ABSURD FEATURES I'VE EVER FOUND ON A PRINTER. FIRST, ITS PRINT HEAD CLEANING FUNCTION RUNS DAILY, AND USES SO MUCH INK, THAT EVEN IF YOU NEVER USE THE PRINTER, IT WILL DEPLETE ALL CARTRIDGES IN LESS THAN A YEAR - AND MUCH SOONER IF YOU PRINT EVEN INFREQUENTLY.
Summary: Bought this particular printer strictly for the phone feature. Need a fax but not my house phone any longer. Brother makes a good product. This model has only 4 color cartridges vs. 6 cartridges for my HP printer. The HP has better clarity as well as an easier loading paper tray. Like I said above....I needed the phone feature.
Summary: I only print or fax in black but have to replace the color inks every few months! The machine will not function if you do not replace the color inks. Each replacement of color inks cost more than $43. Brother designed this machine to make lots of money in inks replacement.
