Summary: Bought it for my office. I use it for faxes and printing envelopes. Lasted 1 and a half years. Started to jam so I replaced the toner and drum, which didn't work. Bought another because I had extra toner and drums. Owes me nothing. Only problem was that I have it on my network and it wasn't plug and play. My tech had to come in and reset the ip address. It should have an auto feature. Regardless, the print quality and features make this a great choice.
Excerpt: I bought this printer because I had another Brother printer that was very old but served me well...it finally died. The printer itself is great! It does everything my old printer did and more. I was concerned when I bought it because the box was pretty beat up. We got the printer home and it works ok, however, while pulling the tape off the machine, the adhesive was/is stuck to the machine. I haven't tried to remove it but I imagine something like goo b gone would work.
Excerpt: Was using MFC-7960 for about three years until it started to print spots and lines on everything and became unusable. I thought about getting another MFC-7960, but I wanted the double sided printing. The MFC-8710 arrived fast and operates and functions the same. I did have allot of trouble installing and setting it up to print from multiple computers. Finally figured out how to set it up on a network and worked on all computers except for one.
Excerpt: We purchased this printer about two weeks ago. So far, we have only printed about 200 pages with it, but it works well. I haven't tried faxing anything, but all of the print, scan and copy functions work as expected. The built-in WiFi is sweet, and the printer wakes up, warms up and prints quickly.
