Summary: FAILED FUSER UNIT. ONLY GOT 23,000 COPIES BEFORE FAILURE. I bought the Brother MFC8510DN and it has worked well for about 15 months until the fuser unit started to fail. I started getting paper jams when the unit heated up -- with printing jobs of 10 or more sheets.
Current generation of Brother MFCs is a big leap backwards

Summary: In our small office, 4 years ago we started a move from HP MFCs to Brother. The first purchase was a MFC 8480DN - that replaced an HP 2727 - which has performed brilliantly and is a workhorse. It has needed only scheduled maintenance/parts replacement and has now gone through 125,000 or more copies.
Summary: I wish I researched flaws more with this model. I have 3 of them used at hotels. We print about 50-150 pages per day. Both printers started having issues with paper jams every 2-5 pages. This was within 3 months of use. Warranty covered it. Few weeks after same thing happened on both of them.
Summary: It comes with a 1 year warranty. One month out of warranty the document feeder started to squeak a little, a week after that it was getting really loud. I called brothers CS and they determined it was out of warranty and that something was wrong and it would need to be replaced, They decided to...
Pros: we mostly use this unit as a fax machine, we have a high volume of incoming and outgoing faxes and multi function printers work better and are cheaper to operate
Cons: just nitpicking but the beep from pressing the keys is really loud, you can turn it off but that's not what I want, I want an office appropriate volume setting
Excerpt: Love the Brother Printer; however, it doesn't allow you to set it up on WIFI : (I'd have to spend almost another $100 to get that option. It's very confusing with the way they write the description in the ad. It leads you to believe it is a WIFI printer.
Summary: I have 6 of the 8510dn and over 50 of the MFC-8710dw. All the MFC-8510dn have damaged and torn rollers in the back of the printer so it wrinkles all the paper. dont have this problem on any of the MFC-8710dw printers. Must be a design flaw.
Excerpt: We recently replaced our previous printer with this Brother Multi-function Printer. We were pleasantly surprised at its more compact size and the amount of functions it has. It can fax, scan and do a great many copying projects.
Summary: CS guy was helpful and no-nonsense; no runaround. ID'd the issue and determined that it would have to be sent in; they covered shipping both ways and had a replacement unit to us tut de suite.
Pros: Worked fine once it was set up. Tons of internal bits of tape to make sure nothing gets shifted around during shipping
Cons: The usual Brother printer needlessly complex installer package. Crapped out in about 2 months. Troubleshot with CS and they sent out an upgraded refurb unit as replacement
Excerpt: If you want a trouble-free copier that lasts for at least two years, I wouldn't recommend this one, even if it is a great deal. This printer was used in a small office as the main copier/scanning machine. The double-sided printing capability and speed were great.
