Summary: This copier was purchased for a business and it does make a good copy. That is the only good thing. I would not recommend this copier if you are going to be printing envelopes or paychecks. When printing an envelope the copier heats the envelope as it passes through the copier and seals it shut. It also crumples each envelope so after they pass through the copier they are a wrinkled mess. Not very professional looking.
Summary: We previously had an older version of Brother, it started making noises and falling apart. I loved all the features of it so I decided to buy another Brother. The new one came broken! The piece on the feeder to hold legal paper was bent and broken off. It ALWAYS says its out of paper when its full so I have to load paper in the feeder and not the tray. I thought it was going to be a great purchase since I loved all the features of the old Brother.
Summary: I am very disappointed in this machine and would definitely not recommend it. The document feeder frequently grabs several sheets at a time so that I need to count all copies and scanned pages. Additionally, many of my pages have a line going down vertically due to a problem with the toner bar. This will cost more than $100 to replace and happened only a few months after I bought the machine.
Summary: this is a great copier overall, but it lacks the function of copying from two-sided to two-sided documents. i'd like to change it to the one that does has that function, then i probably will have to pay for the shipping.

Summary: This is my 3rd generation of Brother MFC. I like the convenience of a printer/copier/fax/scanner in one unit. The Brother units are pretty low cost, but are made out of flimsy plastic, so they self-destruct in 3-4 years (planned obsolescence). Also, they need service every 6 months or so, so it's good to have a warranty service plan. Brother used to have great customer service. No longer.
