Summary: I had a Brother MFC-490CW that just quit printing after 1 or 2 years of service. I had just bought ink refills, so I thought I would purchase another Brother machine that used the same ink, wrong choice! This machine printed about 8 pages then nothing. Called customer service and went through the cleaning process - nothing. Called the authorized repair center and was told it was a common problem as these sit in boxes in warehouses too long and the print heads go bad.
Pros: Starts out great w/good quality, speed and pricing.
Cons: After a few weeks, nothing but trouble. Print quality drops. Multiple ink cartridges dry out quickly. Touch screen never works. Printer spends more time beeping about a problem, than it does printing.
Summary: this printer sucks ! its slow , noisy, and unreliable . wouldnt reccomend it to no one . the ink cartriges are awfully expensive . true fact : the more money a printer cost, the more unreliable it gets . and if you lose the cd of installation , youre done for ! [this is what happened to me] and last of all , it uses a difficult setup . sheesh !!!
Pros: Slow, Troublesome
Cons: Annoying, Flimsy Construction, Hard Setup, Jams Easily, Large Footprint, Noisy, Slow Operation, Unreliable
