Summary: I purchased this to replace the exact same one I had...so as not to have to relearn a new fax machine and because i still had lots of ink for it! It has been discontinued, but if you can find one, I highly recommend it. Though I feel like I am hanging on to 20th century technology in the 21st century!
Summary: I came from a long line of problems with printers. this one was a godsend. It's not a ink guzzler, the print quality is excellent, support is good (very good) and it's easy to use and versatile.
Summary: I bought this printer from costco a few years ago and it worked fine for me. Good print quality. I use mainly for scanning and print outs. I always used OEM ink, though it is expensive. Previously I used to change printers every now and then. Networking is very good with strong wireless router.
Summary: This is our second Brother 4-in-1. It is for home use. The first one we had lasted 3 years and then needed a new printhead. We were told we had caused the problem by using generic ink cartridges. I don't know if that is true or not, but on this one we are using Brother ink cartridges only. We have had no trouble sending or receiving faxes.
Summary: I received this item in perfect condition. I plugged it in and began to print and receive faxes. I ran out of black ink in 3 months and replaced the ink cartridge and it would not print in black at all. Changed the cartridge 4 times in different new replacements in black and still no printing in black. Prints in colors, but does not read or print black. Warranty for only 30 days from seller, Brother for one year. Am sending back machine, waiting for a replacement.
Summary: I had this thing working wirelessly, but suddenly, it has become intermittent. It will say "Connected" but when I try to, for instance, scan something, it reports "Check Connection!". How frustrating! Have reset the machine and tried to setup wireless again but no luck. Based on this, I would NOT buy another Brother product -- particularly anything with a wireless interface.
Summary: This is the second brother fax printer I have purchased. I used the first one for several years before the electronics finally malfunctioned. I love these printer/ faxes. I can do everything in one spot. This one can also be set up wireless which is a plus. I also like that it shows caller ID so I can monitor calls while I'm working at the computer.
Don't buy, black ink will clog and it is unrepairable

Summary: As others have reported here after a time - particularly if the printer is used lightly, black ink print will clog or fail. I went though an entire new cartridge performing the 'black' clean, which somehow also seemed to consume color ink. We have had the device for just over a year, brought primarily as a fax. Unfortunately I didn't buy insurance so I sent some time trying to clean heads, make sure ink was flowing, but no fix found. Machine is a throw a way.
