Summary: I had reservations about getting another Brother printer, since my last experience with them was really terrible. However, there seems to be a huge difference between Brother home printers and office printers, because so far, this one works just fine. I'm using it in my office, where I don't need color or photos or other refinements. The print quality is fine, and the speed to print is way above average.
Awsome machine! Great value. Has all the features I need in my HO.

Summary: I bought a refurbished 7860 for my home office. As both my fax and laser printer died within 2 weeks of each other, I wanted a unit that could do both. Throw in the scanner and I then removed the old flatbed unit from my desk. The fax and laser units were also Brother machines approaching 10 years of service. I jumped at the offer for this unit. Has all the features that I need. This purchase also included an undated version of my scanner program. Another bonus.
Summary: I have a Brother 9840CDW at home, that works great wirelessly for my Macs (printing, scanning.) My folks who have Windows and Macs went through endless problems getting their Macs (and sometimes Windows computers) to work together with a printer. Many printers did not have Mac specific drivers so compatibility had to be kluged, or even had to be connected to their Windows computer with the Mac connecting to that shared printer to use it.
Summary: 5/26/13 Below is my initial review based on about a week of use. I will update this in a few weeks with more use. I had a trusty old HP laser printer that worked for years and finally died when the rubber rollers turned molten. (This is a common problem I am told on these old HP laser printers.) I was looking for a new reasonably priced workhorse B/W laser printer. I decided that I did not want an inkjet based product because of their high cost per page.
Summary: After years fighting with HP ink jets, spending small fortunes on ink, and having them poop out in somewhat less than a year I finally decided to try something different. My only regret is that it took me this long to switch over! This is the only printer I've ever had that reliably and uncomplainingly prints every time I ask it to from every computer I try with it. No error messages, no communication issues, no muss, just gets the job done.
Summary: I just got this printer because I found myself spending a fortune printing on campus. Brother has always been reliable and this printer is no different. Very happy with my purchase. The only downside I've noticed was getting the wireless set up using the small display on the device. I tried to set it up manually initially, thinking it wouldn't be difficult, but I was wrong. Since there is only a numeric pad, you're limited to an abc type input.
Pros: - easy to set up, - dead silent in sleep mode, - wireless, - print from mobile devices, - quick and accurate printing, - reliable name, - quick on/off from sleep
Cons: - wifi a pain to set up if you don't have WPS support
Summary: This is the best printer and best scanner that I have ever owned, hands down. I use Mac OS X 10.8 (primarily) and Windows 7. Pros: 1. Easy setup on Mac OS X 10.8 and Windows 7. 2. It scans multiple pages and merges them into a PDF on Mac OS X 10.8. I have never accomplished that before, except with my father's a $500 ScanSnap. This Brother is much cheaper than a ScanSnap and provides the same functionality. 3. Scan over Ethernet (no USB required) from a Mac.
set up with my MacBook Air OSX 10.8.2 in 5 minutes

Summary: My son gave me high recommendation of Brothers Laser printers. His is a single function printer only. I need an All-in-One and found this one. As all my computers are Apple products, iMac, MacBook Air's, I hesitated buying this printer after reading about all the negative experiences of setting it up with Mac, especially with Lion 10.8.
this is a great printer, wireless wonder, and a scanner too

Summary: We use this in our MAC home network and it works like a charm, scanning items either from the glass or from the document feeder. It also prints great from any of our wireless devices. Even from the iPAD. We are please with its performance. This is such a good printer that I had my mom and dad get one because it was going to solve all of their connectivity problems at their place, and it simplified things.
