Excerpt: This is our second model MFC-7860 and we have the same problem with the multi page feeder. We cannot trust it will separate the pages even in small quantities of 6 to 10 pages so we must stand over it and monitor that all the pages go through separately. Other than that it works well.
Excerpt: Works great under win xp 32 bit, upgraded to win 8 64 bit and lost printing capability and scanner under Paperport 12, no twain or WIA. 7860dw would not install by USB as it did under winXP. Only way to install under Win 8/64 was to use the LAN install setup. Only then would printer accept test page and then Paperport 12 Pro would see a twain or WIA scanner. Brother software for Win 8/64 did not work using the printer and USB cables, tried multiple USB cables.
Excerpt: I feel that the printer is a good product WHEN IT IS OPERATIONAL!!! Living in Florida we are subject to numerous and sometimes vicious storms, not attempting to exclude Hurricanes which are another story. The major problem I have been experiencing is that when a storm “knocks out the power for some reason or the other the “Network Card must go blank or something and the printer goes off line.
Excerpt: Printer performers very well but lack of an ePrint function is very discouraging. The Brothers App does not come close to function needed. Would recommend this printer for someone without a tablet device such as iPad.
Excerpt: I chose the MFC 7860 DW because the website indicated that it was wireless compatible with Windows 8. I was disappointed to see that the printer connects wirelessly but not the scanner. Both the Brother and Microsoft websites are user unfriendly in trying to set up wireless scanning and to find correct scanner drivers. The print quality is great.
Excerpt: The quality of this printer does not stand up to Brothers standards, I had a Brother and thought this would be as good, wrong. So I switched to a different brand, couldn't find a brother for the heavy printing I do.
Cons: By-pass door flimsy, Didn't do legal size, Flimsy
Excerpt: This machine may be ok for home use -- small footprint and light weight -- but it is unsuitable for the demands of even a small office. The manual feed tray takes only one sheet at a time, and you need to keep adjusting the width of the slot if you have envelopes, etc. Repeated "paper jam" messages when there is no paper jam. Both the scanning glass and the paper tray accommodate only letter size paper, not legal.
Excerpt: I have purchased many brother machines and use these machines at both my home office and my business office. I have been nothing but pleased with my brother machines. I have recommended brother too many of my clients and friends. However, this machine is so noisy and sounds like it would be a machine from the past, instead of a fine tuned, modern piece of machinery. It is almost embarrassing to run in my office when clients are here. Again, it does do all I wanted to do.
Excerpt: This is one of the most inconvenient printers I have ever used. I do like to print my envelopes and it is most annoying and inconvenient to have to do it from the back of the machine. It is also extremely difficult to feed a single piece of paper into it. I found the scanning software clumsy also. It takes a long time to wake up from a sleep to print. It is very poorly designed. I will be taking this back and looking for something that will better suit my needs.
Excerpt: Less foot space, not as high, noisey, good quality print, blew my ciruits a couple of times if when I had it on its own receptacle. Have to shut things down in the room when printing. Even though my other printer was on a UPS, do not put this one on it or it will wipe it out.
