Summary: The wireless does not work consistently! I have tried everything that I know (and some things that I didn't know that I found on the internet). Nothing worked for any period of time. I've been putting up with this piece of junk for about a year.
Excerpt: I researched and researched. We owned the brother Mfc 7820n and it was a workhorse. Wonderful. Just wonderful. It became a little hinky after over 10 years of use. We felt we couldn't depend on it anymore, so we decided to get a new laser printer.

Summary: Despite what it says it will not work with Windows 8. The drivers are not compatible and Brother never actually fixed them. My IT guy had to do a lot of research to find that out. I finally hooked it up to a friend's Windows 7 PC just to print or scan.
Excerpt: This printer works great until it suddenly STOPS! With over 70% of my high yield toner remaining(according to the user setting report printed off of the printer itself), I got a "toner low" message, and my printer stopped dead.
Summary: This printer is the WORST!! Every time we change the toner (non brother because of the cost) we have to call in a tech company to get it working again. Brother customer support is non existent! The wireless system will drop computers off the network after toner change.
Excerpt: Required me to get JAVA download for my MAC Maverick. (on Maverick should not be needed). Downloaded JAVA and had their own test script determine that the download and install were successful.

Summary: I am very technically proficient in networking. Brother is not. I suggest anyone considering the MFC-7860DW read the one star reviews. Brother wants you use a USB cable between your computer and the Brother device to set up wireless initially.
Excerpt: The software is not ready for AirPrint. It needs an app to run through and has limitations. If you use it only with a computer this printer is good. If it's used with tablets and smart phones buy an HP. I returned the brother got an HP everything easily works.
