I still have an HP b&w printer from 20 years ago that prints fine. Won't buy another Brother printer

Summary: I had this printer for 4 years; used it very little as I avoid wasting paper. Then one day it died. I took it to an authorized Brother dealer who said the machine had become e-waste and could not be salvaged. If I printed a couple of thousand pages in 4 years, that's tops.
Summary: I bought this printer after reading all the rave reviews. My primary goal was to get an all-in-one laser printer with wireless capability. At first the printer setup was a breeze and I was really excited. The printer quality as well as scan qualities were excellent.
Summary: I've owned a sequence of Brother MFC's over the last 10+ years. Unfortunately, the older ones were the best. My last few ones (including the 7840w which I just bought) have been prone to jam. The worst are the duplex ones (I just tossed one of these for the 7840w).
Summary: I set up the machine for my small home network, connected to a router instead of directly to a pc. If you are running any of your computers wireless and use a firewall then pour yourself a drink and settle in for the night because this configuration will take you a while.
Defective product with bureaucratic customer service

Summary: I had high hopes for this product after reading the positive reviews here. Unfortunately it was defective out of the box. There seems to be a known issue with a toner cartridge error: the sensor fails to read that the cartridge is full.
