Summary: I am a homeschool mom of 5. We have had the printer for about 18 months. I don't like writing reviews, but I love this printer. It is very affordable, and convenient. I have had many printers and this one tops them ALL!!!
Excerpt: I purchased this machine specifically because I was replacing an older Brother Multi-Function machine that had been the workhorse for my office for close to ten years. I was hoping that I could pretty much just plug it in and go and that was pretty much the case (I did install the new software/drivers). I didn't have to replace any of the cabling - just used the old and best of all, no training required for the staff!
Summary: I couldn't read the LCD screen on the printer. I didn't understand the convoluted menu on the printer. The setup was difficult. I had to turn on the WLAN and configure the Access Point. I returned to printer and bought an Hp.
Summary: I bought this printer for use in a home environment to replace a similar Brother printer, an MFC-7420, which had served me well for a number of years (and was still going strong when i sold it). I really wanted duplex printing, and the EtherNet interface was an added bonus. Needless to say, i wouldn't have bought this printer had i not liked the previous model. I'm very pleased with the duplex printing.
Summary: Just be aware it has 1 fall back. The older machine, that looks exactly like this one which I had for many years, would keep printing when the Toner was low. It would just get too light that I had to replace the toner. This one decides when the toner says low for about a week and is still giving nice black printing, decides to drop dead in its tracks. It seems the manufactures dont want you to get your money's worth. Just buy a new toner now.
Summary: I went out on my own recently as a solo practitioner. I read and read and read reviews trying to find the perfect printer/copier/scanner for the best value. The only thing I missed on this one was that it wasnt wireless. I assumed it was. But it's fast, it's clean, it's easy to use. I'll probably get a bigger better one at some point, but I'll keep this one around for as long as it keeps kicking.
will not install properly; customer service is useless

Summary: I tried to install this as a network printer. After plugging the printer into my router and installing the software on my pc, running Vista, I could print but not scan. "Check connection" error message appeared on the LCD screen, and the ControlCenter software could not find it as a scanner. I chatted with customer support online, but they just pointed me to a web page that told me to reinstall the software. Which I did, multiple times, to no avail.
Excerpt: The Brother MFC-7460DN was simple to set up. Plugged the network cable up to the MFC, ran the installation disc and was up and running in a short time. The print and scan quality was very good. The duplex printing feature is great. It is automatic, no need to manually flip the paper manually feed the paper back into the printer. My only complaint is with printing envelopes. You have to manually feed each envelope into the printer, one at a time.
Pros: easy set up very good print and scan quality.
Scanner and copier stopped working properly after 1 year
3 February 2014
Summary: It worked great at first. Easy to install and use. I have been using it in a small office and it has had a proper handling. After about 1 year of using it, both, the scanner and the copier stopped working properly. A black line started showing when making copies and scanning documents. Tried to solve the issue following the recommended steps by Brother. Finally, had to send it to a Brother repair center and they told me had to pay $200 for them to repair it!!!!
