Summary: I have bought over 15 of these. We have only had one fail which went to warranty (that experience was very painful). When you buy a printer it isnt the cost of the printer that really matters. It is the cost of the upkeep which in this case is the toner. This printer is very reasonable priced $200-$230 but the toner is a great deal. I have had no complaints from any of the end users about this unit for coping, scanning, faxing or printer. I will but more of them.
As of now Brother is the printer brand I would buy in the lazer versions

Summary: I wanted two key things from a printer when I bought this one. 1) A printer that would print two sided without jamming and 2) a printer with a document feeder that actually worked. I am happy to say I got both! What a pleasure to put a stack of paper in the auto-feeder and have it work. All it is missing is the ability to copy both sides from the feeder instead of having to flip the pile over.
Summary: Bought this for 129.99 on special, and used points for free shipping (quite heavy). Initial impression was good, it's well built, well tought of except for the flimsy scanner cover. I feel it could break if I'm not careful enough. There is no backlight on the display but it's not that bad if you have some light in the room. Initial setup was fairly straightforward. Followed the instructions to the letter and everything worked as expected.
Pros: -Good price ration when on special, -Duplex printing, ADF scanner, fax features, -Fairly small size for home, -Inexpensive toner replacement
Cons: -No duplex scanning (single sided only), -Scanner cover feels flimsy, -Starter toner wears out fast, -No backlight on display, -Noisy when in use, -Driver is pretty big (120mb to install)
Pros: Network Duplex Scanner Android application Laser User replaceable drum Linux support
Cons: Scan to FTP is FTP only, not SFTP, NFS or CIFS, requiring insecure protocols at least on the internal network. Network is wired only. Mobile app does not support printing all PDFs. Scanning over the network for Linux connects only by IP address.
Summary: I think this WILLL be and awesome machine but it has proven to be very diffiuclt to get set up to do what we need it to do. We have our own tech as well as the State level 2 techs working on it and they have been since we picked it up 5 days ago. Not a machine for the easily frustrated for sure.
