Scan does not work

Linda, Staples
27 February 2014
  • Excerpt: For some reason I can not scan. Brothers help tells me that it is my email. The scanner does not recognize the way I get my email. I do not understand what it is. They say the scanner does not work with web based email. What other ways are there to get email? I use Internet Explorer for MSN email and Google for my Verizon email. One of the main reasons I bought the machine was for scanning so am very disappointed. Can someone tell me what I need to do?

Love the engineering, hate the toner monitor

Jerry RaceCarDriver, Amazon
25 January 2014
  • Summary: The printer works every time. Documents look as expected. Scanner's everything I need. It'd be a five, were it not for paternalistic software and constant pressure sales. At about 30% left in the toner cartridge, the software repeatedly beats you around the head and tells you to buy more. I don't print so much that I need something now; I can go weeks before needing more. I really don't need getting poked in forehead 150 times.

Its a kind of gamble to buy this machine

Kam, Staples
31 October 2013
  • Excerpt: We are using same BROTHER ALL IN ONE model in home and office, so feel little comfortable to work with it. Main reason, its very easy to find cheap $$ cartridge on line, and its works perfect. - so overall, this machine is cost effective for us.
  • Pros: Easy To Use
  • Cons: Jams Easily

Does NOT interface well with Mac 10.8

D. Cook, Amazon
17 September 2013
  • Summary: Lovely machine. Fast, takes up little space, and is great for a home office. Problem? It does NOT work well with Mac OS X 10.8. CD that comes with the product simply does not install anything because the operating software is not supported. You can go online and download all the drivers, but what a pain. 3 hours later, I can print just fine, but cannot scan via network or USB. All I get is "check connection." The live chat is fast, friendly, but very un-helpful.

Quirky

nickname 912, Office Depot
20 August 2013
  • Excerpt: We bought two of these to replace aging HP 3050s. The document handler is a huge step up from the HPs'. Scanned images look pretty sharp. The printing sometimes seems a little thin, but it's definitely not bad; this might be a result of using the starter toner that came with the machine. We haven't used the fax capabilities. The biggest disadvantage is how the printer handles paper.
