Worst printer ever

Amazon Customer, Amazon
27 January 2014
  • Summary: I'm a tech writer and I have to say this is the worst piece of technology I've ever owned. I bought this printer several years ago because it could handle 11 by 17 paper. There were reviews about printing problems at the time but I dismissed them. Big mistake. I used the printer briefly for a project where I had to use 11X17 inch paper and then went back to my old HP printer because I still had a lot of ink.

Fantastic Printer

  • Summary: I bought this to help in my shipyard consultancy. The 11x17 feature and the ability to duplex print got me to buy it and both work extremely well.

  • Summary: My hp 6150 i had for a while ,it was outdated and slow,it broke down so i decided to shop for another brand and choose Brother. The design caught my attention and then i read up on it and love the specs, i orderd it and it came in record time. It was easy to set up ,print quality is awesome, speed is great and the best thing i like about it is it goes totally to sleep when not in use. This machine i used for my home office and it is great.

Not the best way to go!

Bruce Warne, Amazon
6 September 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this product a few months ago, granted. I did not plan to use it in an office environment but rather as a backup in my home. I was very unhappy when I began to run out of ink only after a few copies made. Why don't these people put in the correct amount of ink and charge the consumer accordingly? I would rather pay up front and not have to purchase another set of cartridges so soon. This is a dumb idea on their part! Oh thank you for the false hopes!

Solution

Lynette A. Ritchie, Amazon

  • Summary: We purchased this item to print color 11X17 without stepping up to a color copier. It does what we need on a low volume basis. Like the scan to flash drive feature but wish it could print from the flash drive. Until we hook it up to the network that would be a handy feature.

Great investment

Sonita Lewis "Abundance Hollow", Amazon

  • Summary: This printer is perfect for our needs. I haven't had a single problem out of it yet. We homeschool and I use a lot of resource that need printing out. I also print out shipping labels. Plus I'm a fan of e-books and print out many of them. It is large for a home printer, but it does the job. I love the duplex printing, the fact that it holds so much paper, I can print, copy, fax, scan, everything, with ease.

Quirky at Best

Ethan Hunt "Ethan Hunt", Amazon
20 June 2011
  • Summary: Issues with WLAN connections occurred regularly. I used WPA, WPA2, WEP . . . in all cases, connections were intermittent. After going through tech support, it was resolved by resetting the factory network settings and starting over. I noticed that this has to be done after each power outage in this case. Large paper drawer and feed poorly designed - jammed regularly, thus eventually stopped using it altogether. After calling tech support, unable to resolve.

A good deal with some rough edges.

nctvi, Amazon
9 June 2011
  • Summary: I bought the Brother MFC-6890-CDW last fall (8 months ago) because it offered so many features during a special sale of $219. 1. It was easy to set up, but the trays are somewhat flimsy. It is big and heavy, which is good as when it prints it is difficult to feel it shaking while a competitor top of the line model was visibly shaking. Overall, the body is well made. 2. The first project was to print off 11X17 copies of a multi-colored chart from a scanned copy.
