Summary: This is a great AIO! I purchased this MFC-685CW in late 2007 or early 2008 to replace an HP AIO that was not wireless capable. It may be late to be writing a review, but it's 2013 and it's still going strong! I love it...the only problem I ever had with it was when I upgraded from XP to Vista. I found that Vista kept forgetting the wireless set-up and I would manually have to type in my IP Address every now and then.
Summary: I am very pleased with this brother printer. I have had it for two years and never had any problems with it. I use it for a home office and use the fax, scan and copy features quite regularly. I use my laserjet for any text documents that I do not need color so I am hoping to preserve the life of this printer longer. I liked this inkjet because it has an enclosed paper tray which I was looking for as well as a manual feed.
Very good quality for the price and Brother is GREAT to deal with

Summary: I didn't buy the printer at Amazon but I've had it for longer than I've dealt with Amazon. I feel compelled to write a brief review. This does everything we want it to but we don't use it a lot. Then it just stopped printing, in all colors. I called Brother, the wait time was minimal and the person on the other end was understandable and helpful. Turns out that Brother shipped a number of these with bad print heads and they are fixing it at their cost.
Summary: I haven't even opened the box on my new purchase yet, but that is because I own the exact same model and it is still working, though I believe I purchased it about 5 years ago. I like it so much that I bought a spare for when and if this one quits working. It is the most user friendly printer I have ever had.
Summary: The generic ink for this printer is so cheap, and it costs me $1.75 per catridge from some ebay seller. But I can get $2/per catridge back from Staples by recyling the empty catridges. So, I makes money from the heavy use of this printer. Can you find better deal? I doubt. It is true that this printer uses ink even if you never use it. But givine the price of ink, I do not complain it.
Summary: Our old Brother FAX (intellifax 1270) went kaput and I wanted to upgrade with some more features. What I liked about our old one was it had caller ID; fax; and answering machine. This new MFC 685 has all of that plus a scanner and color printing with an optional wireless setup. I have used it for scanning old photos onto a card or flash drive and saving them in a digital format. It is very user friendly and functional.
Summary: I've had this printer for over 6 months now and I've been really happy with it. Never had any problems setting up the wireless connection or getting it to print on a laptop (with Vista, no less!). Scan and copy features also work well - I like that I can scan to file or email. Faxing is also easy to setup and use - the 10 page memory and auto-redial is nice so I don't have to keep checking on it. I've only done 1 photo print but it was really crisp and clean..
