Summary: The ink is expensive but the unit works fine. The scanner is still used 5 times per month. The phone/fax is used 4 times per year. I stopped using the printer because the ink is too expensive. But the other function are used. I have used this printer for 5 years or so.
BROTHER MFC 640-CW IS THE BEST MONEY I EVER INVESTED FOR HOME USE PRINTER
29 June 2011
Summary: THIS IS MY SECOND BROTHER MFC 640-CW AS I UPGRADED FROM BLACK AND WHITE TO COLOR. I AM STILL IMPRESSED.THE COST IS REASONABLE FOR ALL THE FUNCTIONALITY RECEIVED. IT IS SO EASY TO SET UP AND EVERY FUNCTION IS EASY TO USE. THE USER GUIDE BOOK IS EASY READING, VERY DETAILED AND ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS ARE FOUND IMMEDIATELY. BROTHER ALSO HAS ON LINE SUPPORT WHICH I HAVE NOT YET EVER REQUIRED.
Summary: The MFC640CW is the perfect solution to clean up the clutter of machines on your desk. Starting with its built-in 802.11 b/g wireless interface (also includes USB and Ethernet interfaces) this machine offers more in one package than any other all-in-one product. It features up to 6000 x 1200 dpi print resolution, an automatic document feeder, a telephone handset and a digital answering machine. And the ink is very inexpensive too.
Summary: I purchased this printer because I wanted to be able to connect wirelessly from all the systems in my house. It gives a good fast, quality printout. BUT, whenever any ink cartridge is low (there are four of them)- the machine shuts down and will not work. That drives me crazy. You have to keep ALL of the ink cartridges at a certain level or NONE of them will work - in fact, NOTHING about the machine will work. Brother needs to get a better idea.
Summary: i bought this printer for its all in one features after replacing the ink cartridge works great. I would recommend the brother 640cw to anyone that was looking for an all in one printer that takes up minimal space.
Summary: I use this in my SOHO, for mostly personal use, to print color when I'm not using my workhorse Panasonic Laserjet. The Brother is finicky about the paper you feed it. It likes 16 lb anything, but 20 lb paper needs to be better quality stuff or it says there is a 'paper jam' and you have to open the cover and close it, and then the supposedly 'jammed' paper shoots right out the front when you press Black or Color 'Start'.
Summary: Purchased a Refurbish model which J&R salesman assured was as good as new. IT WAS AS GOOD AS NEW - perfect condition, works great. Has a great Answering system and a handset. The software load by USB cable and a computer is NOT for novices. The Brother manuals are worst in Industry. But the OCR, Scan and Card reader works very well. Thanks J&R.
Summary: After extensive research to buy a multi-function printer for my home use, I settled on this highly rated model, offered at a fraction of original MSRP. Set-up was fairly easy, as is use. This unit does it all, too. Wireless function has worked great with Mac (latest) or my PC (WinXP). I'm not a stickler for the latest model, if my purchase does what I need it to do reliably.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Easy To Use, Excellent Print Quality, Fast Operation
