Summary: Very nice printer and fax machine. The only problem that I have with it is that it prints very slow and the ink is expensive. It faxes perfectly fine. I think that I paid a decent price for it.
Summary: Pros: work fine, quick and cartriges easily findable, the compatibles work fine too and are very cheap! Good Fax and Scanner. A little bigger compared with MFC-5440cn but have two trays and the memory card reader. Cons: as all Brothers I had used, it also has some problem with the printing system, some kind of cloging - perhaps due to the quality of the cartridge.

Summary: This machine does practically everything! It scans in color, faxes without a computer attached, has a built-in multi-card reader, and connects to all of the machines on my home network with just one cable. It can scan a stack of papers (fast) with the built-in sheet feeder, and scan a book on the flatbed. I have never called tech support for this machine, but I did call for a different model # 3820CN, and Brother was very helpful.
Summary: My husband and I purchased this Brother MFC (Multi-function Center) when our HP all in one quit after only 2 years!! (I later found out that is common for HP printers.) Anyway, this all in one works great!! It is simple to use and was a breeze to set up. Plus the ink is a lot cheaper than other brands. I have used the copied, scanner and the printer, but not the fax so I can't comment on that. The other features work great.
Summary: Win XP PS2 made our Compaq A3000 obsolete, so as a simple solution our family sought out a new AIO..We settled on the Brother MFC-5840, easily installed the drivers, software without TechnoGeeks help. Print Quality is as good as I have seen on more expensive printers, color photo printing is adequate for our use, the color mode is a bit slow, but 15 ppm is more than some printers we researched. The card reader is a plus, and the Fax easily installed.
Summary: I have had this machine for other a month now & I really love it. It was easy to install over my LAN. It has so many features and for a terrific price (what it is priced now, is even less than what I paid). I did a lot of research before I bought this device. I have owned Brother devices before and many others. I love the low cost of printer cartidges for this device, especially since I print a lot of digital photos. The print quality is excellent!
Summary: [...] The scanner works great, the printing works great too, good photo printing even on plain paper! Card reader works, I use it with my Lexar/Olympus 512mb, Kodak 32mb, and Fujifilm 16mb xD-picture card that came with my E510 Digital Camera. This is my second All-in-one printer. The first one (MFC-7300C) I bought it around Christmas of 01'. It was slow, and I would get paper jams, and ink errors all the time..
