Summary: Sure, when you first open it up and use it it feels like the best thing in the world, but this machine and perhaps all Brother MFCs have secret flaws that unveil overtime. First of all, it will not print B/W if you don't have ALL the color ink install (maybe all printers behave like this, I don't know but its unfair to the user).
Summary: I would strongly recommend that the buyer truely beware of refurbished products. The company that refurbishes them "Doesn't" test them thoroughly. Copy/Scan/photo works great but the fax is locked up. That was my main purpose of purchasing this device so I don't have to go out and fax. I'm stuck with a real piece now until I can budget for something that works.
Summary: Purchased this all-in-one almost a year ago. Works fine as long as I have lots of ink on hand. Even with a full black ink cartridge, if any of the other ink cartridges are empty (yellow, blue or red), you cannot copy, print or receive faxes in black and white. Also seems to use alot of the three colors even during a period of mostly black and white copying.
Summary: I bought this printer back in February 2005 and it has been the biggest ink hog ever. I buy a lot of printers for my business, but I really needed an all in one that had a good automatic scanner and would print photos from my memory card. Out of the box, it is a super thrill - it works great, it looks good, it prints great pictures and it scans fast and trouble free. The biggest down side to this printer is the way it senses the ink levels in the cartridges.
