Summary: this is absolutely the worst purchase I have ever made. It will work a few times and make you think you made a good choice but then will haunt you with problems. I have wasted more money replacing ink cardtridges than it would cost to buy another printer.
Summary: NEVER BUY FROM THIS SELLER WHEN i OPENED IT IT WAS SHRINK WRAPED AND HE LEFT INK INSID THE PRINTERS IT EXPOLED THE INK DOOR WAS BROKEND AND THE KEY PAD TO SET IT UP WOULD NOT WORK BECAUSE OF IT HAVING SO MUCH INK IN IT TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY TRYIED TO CONTACK HIM AGAIN NO REPLE
Summary: They sold new for $79 when they first came on the market 3 years ago. It works ok but it really chews up the ink. I would say that all printers do but the cost of ink on this one is more than the printers original price. It will not print in b&w only.
Summary: It worked fine at first; nice print quality, fairly quick. I was annoyed by constantly replacing ink cartridges. Now it will not print in black. I replaced the black ink cartridge a few times to make sure it is not the cartridge. Its not. It the lousy printer. I'm going back to HP.
Summary: This is the moat frustrating printer in history that I almost drop kicked it out the window. Got nothing but problems since I have it. First off, you have to constantly keep replacing ink which is expensive by itself. Even with lite printing there's always an ink cartridge that reads empty.
Summary: The MFC-490CW stopped using black ink after about 12 months, which could not be fixed with cleaning or any other tricks - as reported in other reviews. We didn't use it often and initially I was impressed with the print quality particularly for photos.
Summary: I bought this printer in the early part of 2009 to use for printing materials from my classes. The wireless did not work but I kept the printer anyway. It worked with the starter cartridges, but once I replaced those cartridges, the printer refused to work.
