Summary: I bought this for the built-in networking, which for the price was a good value. Setup quick and easy, but advanced configuration has been a challenge. I wish they had included a webserver for configuration. Seperate ink cartridges should save on consumables, but the fixed print-head cannot be repaired and any malfunction requires the entire device be replaced.
Summary: After suffering for years with a HP T45, then discovering that it simply would not work after installing Windows XP SP1 - I decided it was time for a change. "A Change" meaning - "anything but HP". If you're sceptical, read some Amazon reviews for HP Printers. This Brother machine is designed for general business/home office use. So, the print/scan quality is not quite as impressive as more expensive units, but is perfectly adequate for general use.
Summary: For the money I could not find another MF device that even came close to this unit. Printing, Fax, Scanning, and copying are all as expected with output quality on par with other units in the $150-$400 range. However, it is its advanced functions that really make it shine. First, the MFC has a built in 10/100baseT server. Not just a print server but a server that will support both local network and internet based printing, faxing, and even FTP access to memory cards.
Summary: This printer does it all. The ethernet connection is the best feature. Printing is fast. It does require tweaking to get the best output. Scaning is fast and accurate. The automatic document feeder is a real plus. You just get sooo much for so little money. (...) The problem with color scanning in XP has been fixed. Contact support to download a registry patch.
Summary: It truly does it all, if you have an OS it likes. XP isn't one of them. Documentation is weak, several different manuals keep you guessing on where to look first, i.e., networking manual, software manual, etc. I can't tell you how many times I've installed and unstalled the software and drivers, trying to get the scanner to work right with XP.
Summary: I bought this machine about a week ago and have used almost all of its features. I am very impressed with the quality, user interface, and versatility. It's pretty easy to program and the user manual is pretty good, and they also have an 800 number for support which I called. Their support was pretty good, although the person I spoke with seemed to need a different job.
Summary: Ich habe also erst bestellt und dann die Rezensionen gelesen... selbst schuld also, dass mich die großen Zweifel befielen, ob ich richtig handelte? NEIN!
