  I have the Brother MFC-240 and am having trouble scanning. It seems that the printer is out of ink, keeps displaying REPLACE CARTRIDGE, INK EMPTY, etc. Would teh printer not still scan even though there is no ink? It was working fine the other day, all of the sudden it wont scan. Its so frustrating, I'm half done my project!

  I would like to print only with black ink and not use any color. Is this possible? If so, how do I set my printer settings to do this?
