Summary: Top of the line for multipurpose small home office use. Especially if you want to leave on all time and do infrequent printing unit goes into sleep mode, power draw in nothing but is ready immediately for use. Brother has good tech support and I after over a years use I have found no cons, I'm just a happy camper, it's dependable and never had a paper jam.
Excerpt: I bought mine almost almost 2 years ago and with only a few minor issues (mostly my stupidity), it is still going strong. What buyers need to be aware of when they buy it, the toner cartridge is only a tester or whatever they call it. It is not intended to work for more than 150-200 pages. Even with a regular cartridge don't expect to be able to print the number of pages Brother (or anyone else) says their cartridges can do.
Excerpt: I have been providing this model printer to my customers for over a year now. I have installed this printer about 15+ times in that year. But, each time it was the brand new one. This time, the customer was really pressed for cost. So I decided to try this refurb for her. Boy am I GLAD I did. The printer come packed as if it was a new printer. Every blue tape, plastic strip, plastic cover, etc. was exactly like the new ones.
Summary: I wanted a laser jet printer (rather than an ink jet) to keep the ink costs down and ideally one with a scanner with a feeder. Really didn't want all the fax stuff as I don't have a phone line and it just clutters up the display. This printer/scanner/copier does just that. Scanner seems great so far - I use it mainly for scanning fairly large documents and it whips through them no problem.
