Summary: So the wireless is not possible to set up, wasted a morning trying and I'm very computer savvy. And now I've just tried to download the drivers again for another computer but link on the brother web site doesn't work!! Buy cheap buy twice.
Excerpt: "...essential for my personal requirements. Brother offer all the online support one could ever need, all of which is documented on page 3 of the ‘Basic User Guide’. On pages 37 to 46 is a comprehensive list for troubleshooting. Summary: ~*~The Product ~ 'Reading the fine print'!~*~ This inkjet black printer has an impressive memory capacity of 32MB. The machines dimensions of height 150mm x width 390mm x length 368mm (360mm base/450mm with copy ledge protruding) is a large but compact enough size to fit comfortable on my unit. The printer is a hefty enough 6.8 kg in weight but as I do not move the machine from its position, this isn't a problem.
Pros: Memory card slots for SD cards and Memory stick. Wi-Fi. Practical features, 12mth warrenty.
Cons: Disappointing print and speed quality on certain documents. Higher running cost.
Summary: I found that the top and bottom of A4 docs were being cut off when scanning and copying. After several sessions with technical support I was informed that this is not a bug, it's a feature! Yes, the specs on this thing provide for a maximum scanning length of 291 mm, while A4 paper is 297 mm. If you need to scan or copy A4 documents this machine is not for you.
Summary: If you need an easy to install, easy to maintain and inexpensive to fuel home printer, buy this. I've had this for over a year and it's been a joy (having had several Epson printers in the past which were less joyful). Cartridges are simple to change and readily available at a good price. Copying is straightforward. Scanning is easy. PC software good and unobtrusive.
Summary: Great product, good print performance and quality, and great price for a home office environment. I only give three stars because of functionality issues with Windows 8 over wi-fi. The installation CD doesn't support Windows 8, and the Windows 8 built-in driver won't install a scanner function. (At least ours doesn't) As a result, it prints OK, but cannot be used as a scanner unless hooked up to the PC by USB cable.
Summary: This is the first wireless printer that I have ever used, and apart from a little difficulty in setting up. I am very pleased with it. Even duplex printing is not a problem. Like all new printers, it came with the standard set up cartidges, however, there are still no signs of these cartridges needing to be replaced, even though I have now stocked up with replacement cartidges. These are also very reasonably priced. a very neat and productive printer. Thank you.
Summary: I bought this Brother DCP-J315W wireless printer/scanner a few months ago. I also purchased some compatible inks at the same time. The printer comes with a set of 4 Brother LC985 inks which ran out fairly quickly and I then put in the new inks I had bought which were not Brother but cost somewhat less than the £30 (including VAT) a set of Brother inks cost. The printer immediately started having problems and the yellow colour just stopped working altogether.
Summary: This site helped me come to the decision to purchase this printer. It is an excellent product, arrived very swiftly from the seller..as did the cartridges I ordered separately.I would have no hesitation at all in recommending this product, its easy to set up and easy to use. The photos are also of an excellent quality too. Thanks to all previous reviewers for helping me choose this one.
Summary: A lovely printer this, suits the other equipment in black and prints both text and graphics clearly. Photos are also good quality but as always depends on the photo paper used. However a word of warning for i-Pad users - this model is NOT "air-print" enabled and is not able to print everything from an i-Pad. There is a useful App by Brother (Brother i-print & scan) which will allow printing of photos;e-mails;web pages and mostly anything sent to the clipboard.
