Summary: If you are looking for an everyday light printing for articles, receipts, coupons, Words documents and decent color printing, this is good for you. But if you are looking for printing on photo paper (glossy or matte) for artistic needs, this is not the printer for you. This is a lightweight (15 LB roughly, which is light for a printer) printer that prints, copies and scans. The price is excellent and very affordable.
Summary: This printer was painful to install. The supplied CD refuses to run on OSX Yosemite. None of the downloads take its place. So, I had to enter my rather long WEP password through their painful little button-UI. Also, if I looked away for more than about 30 seconds, it timed out on me and I had to start all over. Once I fought my way through this it seems OK.
Summary: I was tired of my old Canon printer demanding I buy more ink ever hundred pages or so, and refusing to print if I didn't comply. Reviews said this Brother printer is ink efficient. However... it turns out that when it says it will print 300 pages on a cartridge, the fine print defines a page as 5% full... On the other hand, the Brother will print black even if a color ink cartridge is empty, which my Canon would not do.
Summary: "Wireless printing" is a joke for Mac computers. The instruction pamphlet that comes with this printer is wrong, if you check the troubleshooting page for this printer and Mac, there are multiple pages dedicated to it on the Brother website. They know of the problem but continues to put the wrong info on the pamphlets. The troubleshooting instructions also do not help.
Brother customer support said it's a problem with my router ( I use airport express) however two previous printers i bought and

Summary: First off setup was not simple. I am fairly proficient with computers and this took a bit of problem solving that goes above and beyond the average persons capabilities. Also I was never able to enable wireless scanning, I even disabled all protection on my computer/router to see if that was the problem and made my network so vulnerable a chipmunk could have entered into it.
Wireless function only worked on initial setup, better to not buy this printer
Roshni Patel, Amazon

Summary: It worked great the first time I setup the wireless connection with the laptop. However, afterwards the Mac laptops can't seem ever to find the printer. It always shows up as disconnected. Once it printed my papers hours after I had submitted the job. So, wireless feature is useless. You might as well pay less for one without wireless because you will need the cord for this printer.
Summary: This is the 3rd replacement in 4 months. The exact same problem, not printing parts of sentences and paragraphs. The test print comes out fine, but not when you go past the test. Sent this one back for refund - going to try a Cannon. Relying on the reviews again from Amazon, Consumer Reports, Consumer Search, etc.
Summary: I started using Canon Pixma printers about 7 years ago because they were the only ones I could find at that time that used individual Ink cartridges. I had been using HP, Lexmark and Epson printers that used 1 Tri-Color and 1 Black Ink cartridge. I got tired of spending so much money replacing Tri-color cartridges just because 1 color ran out and the printer would stop printing.
Needed an inexpensive WIFI printer for OSX Mavericks
15 July 2014
Summary: I wanted a printer that was inexpensive, able to connect through wifi, and compatible with my iMac OSX Mavericks 10.9. I have had HP printers in the past and got real tired of paying their high price for ink. This Brother printer was all I had expected it to be with the exception of coming with a USB cable for ease in initial set up. Luckily I had an old printer USB cord that worked fine for the set up.
