Summary: This printer has been nothing but a problem from Day 1 and customer service has been horrible. They're trying to tell us it's the toner cartridges despite the fact that it has not printed right from Day 1 and we have replaced all cartridges multiple times (with original Brother cartridges). Basically the color printing has been useless. B&W has been fine until last few days it has started randomly printing black streaks on right margin occasionally.
Great machine, very time consuming to set up on a network

Summary: We just purchased this machine to replace a 7 year old monochrome copier (after 46,000 copies). The point of this machine was to copy B/W and color, so we don't use our HP inkjet as much. (which is an ink hog)It came two days after we ordered it, which was very respectable. Setup on the machine was hassle free, although when it came to installing the software on about 5 different computers, it was a Mess.
Summary: After I spent some minutes to get the unit installed and running, just to find the unit won't do network print. It disconnects itself whenever it went into sleep mode. Submit a new job will not bring the machine out of sleep mode. I could not find any information in the manual that describe a solution. Update on 6/23/08: I had the chance to talk to Brother Tech support and was able to resolve the problem after reinstalling drivers.
Summary: Before purchasing this printer I did a large amount of research. I needed a color laser printer that did automatic duplex, scanning/copying and envelopes while at the same time not costing an arm and a leg for supplies. Here is what I found after using this printer almost a year. - Envelope printing is great but you can only feed envelopes 3 at a time.
Summary: The Brother DCP-9045CDN (the listed model number was incorrectly stated as DCP-9045CDW at the time of this writing) is a very well designed color laser printer/scanner/copier with impressive built-in networking and duplex capabilities. First, it performs very nicely as a network color laser printer. It uses four toner cartridges (black, yellow, cyan, & magenta) that are easily accessed via a simple sliding drawer at the front of the unit.
Summary: Excellent printer, finally I have just one affordable printer for all my scanning & printing needs (color duplex scan, copy and print). I'll highlight the few less than perfect features. Don't get me wrong for the $ this is a great printer and I'm happy to be using it, but you are here for the nitty gritty dirt so I'll dish it.
Summary: Unfortunately we purchased this printer during our busiest season (just before Christmas) and lived with all it's problems long enough to miss the return window. Otherwise we would have returned this printer without a second thought!! The scanner portion (especially to a network drive) was what sold us on this printer and it does perform that task admirably. But that is the only thing I can say works properly!! We are constantly having to calibrate it..
Summary: This printer seems very expensive. I don't have color lazer printers to compare it to, but it continues to shock me. I just put in a drum, now I need the belt, always need one ink cartridge or another. I've been a big Brother fan, but I'm going to try a different brand now, unless Brother just has glowing reviews on what I need.
