Summary: The machine is less weight and therefore feels a little tinnier than my Brother MFC8440. It prints about twice as fast as my old machine and scans about twice as fast too, much quicker scanning in color. The quality is quite good on the scanning, especially photos. I bought two of these to replace two 10-yr old Brothers and I like the scanning software that come with the unit.
Summary: The toner low sensor malfunctioned after about two months of use. Replaced cartridge several times with new and the sensor still malfunctions. Tried covering the light sensor with black tape and the sensor still malfunctions. Printer works great but this special feature makes the unit worthless. Avoid.
Pros: Having installed several Brother units in the past I wanted to stay with a known good manufacturer. This unit is a higher speed than the one it replaced. The application is a fairly high usage office. I am satisfied with the quality of the unit, its copies, prints and scans.
Cons: When the unit was unpacked the tape strips holding covers in place for shipping left residue when removed.
Summary: I've switched from HP to Brother a few years ago and have never looked back. We have had several HP inkjet color printers and I spent about $30-$50/month in cartridges. I've purchased my first Brother laser (HL-5370DW) and everyone whined about not having color...for about 3 months. Then they caught on. Laser is faster, better quality, doesn't smudge, perfect for 95% of everything we need. Color was a useless luxury.
Brother DCP-8150DN Laser Multifunction Printer - Monochrome - Plain P

Summary: Fast and no-nonsense. For the money this thing kicks out a great amount of pages per minute, does 2-sided copies, and scans (in color) up to legal size documents. If you're looking for a proficient small-business sized printer/copier/scanner (B&W copies and printing only) then this should be top of your consideration list. Overstock beat any other deal out there on price and delivery time, too.
Summary: I read reviews and researched this one as best I could. Thought about going color, but decided on this B&W all-in-one based on reviews, initial cost, and cost of toner. I have Windows 8.1 and found drivers on the Brother website. The download and installation were extremely easy and straightforward. Quiet, fast and has worked like a charm thus far. The scan to PDF function has worked well too.
