Summary: This seems like a well-made machine. The software installed easily, it was simple to set up, and the printer and scanner have worked from the first time I tried them. HOWEVER, every time the unit powers up to print, it causes a major power droop in my home office. Brother tech support says that it spikes up to 10A, and that my unit is working as expected. The droop makes the lights flicker and makes the UPS connected to my computer squawk.
Summary: I just arranged to return this printer. It printed way too dark and the resolution was poor. I copy and print architectural drawings and the fine print is impossible to read. Also the photos were black and it was impossible to see the image. I tried adjusting the contrast but this did not improve the legibility. It was fast. As always, Amazon handled this with amazing efficiency.
Summary: We experimented with every contrast setting, toner setting, etc. We even called Brother, and they couldn't help. So we returned the printer. PC Nation worked with us, paid the return shipping, and refunded our money.
