Summary: This machine is fine as a printer. However, the duplex function only works for the printer. There is no way to make duplex photocopies using the feed tray. Since nearly all the material I photocopy is double-sided, this is a major issue. The scan interface is very difficult to use, requires a dozen steps, and creates a separate file for each page of scanning. There is also no way to scan both sides of the paper in the same pass.
Summary: I have had my Brother 8080DN for a couple of years now, and just used it to scan a large paper file into PDF format onto my computer. It only took a couple of minutes to scan about 100 pages. I had a software hiccup and couldn't do it from my computer using the CC3 software, and had to physically do it from the printer itself, but it worked flawlessly. Yeah, I never realized that it had the capability of converting large paper files into PDF (a "duh" moment).
Summary: I bought this one because our last Brother copier broke down after many years of usage and it was getting quite costly to repair the machine. I found this machine and I love it. It works smoothly and the overall appearance is quite glossy and professional looking. If you are looking for a cost effective machine that does its job, try this machine.
Summary: I purchased this printer from Amazon in July 2011. I had used this model at my work and loved it so much that when I lost my job, I decided to get one for home use. I didn't want to live without my Brother. It is a large printer compared to consumer models but I didn't mind because I have the space. The scanner is great. It can scan a large stack of pages very quickly into one document. I use it to scan important documents that I don't want to lose.
inconvenient drivers, no scan-to-email support, slow networking

Summary: We bought this for use in our small office. We have Windows 7, Mac, and Ubuntu Linux users. Setting up the printer is fairly seamless from the Macs. To set up the printer from Windows 7, however, you have to click the "Windows Update" button during the "Add Printer" process. Then wait about 5 minutes. I suppose there's probably a driver on the CD-ROM that came with the printer, but nobody has a CD-ROM drive anymore.
Summary: This baby is a swiss amry knife for the office. Lets get to the point which is it uses a high yeild cartridge that will print 20000 pages. If you get the generic HY cartridge its only $18.00 and you can tell HP bye bye. Ha Ha - Bingo Baby!
Summary: I bought this printer because it was supposed to be economical. As a multifunction machine, I couldn't be happier. If you need color printing or superior scanning capabilities, this product isn't for you. If, however, you are a student or simply need a machine that requires home office functionality and quality, this one is for you. I've had it several years and haven't had a paper jam or any other issues.
